I managed to save the league leader in receiving yards until this week, but I’m still running out of premier players. With a few exceptions, my strategy to this point has been not to worry about saving some of the best players for later in the season, but rather taking the best guy (or nearly the best guy) who has a good matchup every week, on the theory that they might get injured before I get around to them (never got to use Ronnie Brown, e.g.), while some second tier or lower guys will break out (Steve Smith 2.0, Miles Austin) and I might be leaving good picks on the table at the end of the year if I hold off on the Fitzgeralds and Mannings early on.
I still think it’s probably the right strategy, but I got a little unlucky the first third of the season (especially with WRs), and now my position (close 3rd) might be a little inflated since I probably have slimmer pickings than most others going forward.
QB - Carson Palmer
RB - Ricky Williams
WR - already picked Greg Jennings
Still need picks from Wilson btw.
Edit: I just noticed I copied RNATB’s QB and RB picks. Unintentional! I selected the guys I wanted and then only looked back at the selections made (in order to see if we were missing anyone).
So I guess you are depending on Boldin to have a rotten week so you gain yards on the pool leader. Since Jennings only got 53 yds.
Just trying to maximize my points - I haven’t plotted strategy against the picks of other people.
He’s nearly 800 yards out of first so at this point just worrying about moving up in the rankings is probably a better long term strategy.
I’m not sure it really matters who I (or anyone else who takes the lead) picks, since the point is still to make the correct decision. After all, if I happen to pick the top three guys in any given week, picking somebody else is not going to help you.
Kurt Warner is now doubtful, so I will make a conditional substitution - Percy Harvin for Anquan Boldin if Warner is out. If I can’t do that, I’ll just take Harvin.
Carson Palmer has 52 passing yards in the first half, and isn’t likely to have a lot more with Cincy leading 13-0 at the half. Bah.
Haha! got you.
Well, late again…
All from the late games.
QB Philip Rivers
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
WR Larry Fitzgerald
Week 12
Passing - Donovan McNabb - PHI 260 yds
Rushing - Michael Turner - ATL - 33 yds
Receiving - Wes Welker - NE - Monday Night game
293 + Welker
Not very good, but at least I didn’t pick Carson Palmer {snerk, snerk}
Warner didn’t start, it looks likes you got Percy Harvin. 3 catches for 36 yds thus far.
Carson Palmer - 110
Ricky Williams - 115
Greg Jennings - 53
= 278
Yes, my running back outscored my quarterback. I dare you to even try to beat that.
110 + 115 + 101 = 326
Well, it coulda been worse. I very nearly went with Matt Ryan.
How about your quarterback that was outscored by your running back outscored my quarterback. 102 yards? I’ve seen longer fumbles.
Hasselback - 102
Barber - 61
Jennings - 53
lieu: Weak 12 - 216
Reminded me of watching the Dow trying to find its bottom.
392 + 115 + 19 = 453
My 300 isn’t looking too bad at this point. Suck it up tonight, Welker!
Glad I am not the only one who can’t do basic arithmetic anymore.
Ha! And I used a calculator. Guess I punched in one or two wrong numbers (and turned my brain off, as well).
Ok, so for real:
392 + 115 + 19 = 526
