At the risk of being redundant, fuck Zac Rinaldo.
What’d he do this time?
A late hit on John Klinberg last night. He left with an upper body injury
Question: what would happen if the refs ever got tired of all the after the whistle gutless shit and started calling it?
Answer: Lots of Penguins in the penalty box
And a few kicked out of the game.
I just saw a quick image on the news - what was the max number of penguins in the box?
I think they got up to 5 in the box, with one banished to the locker room at the most.
Six weeks after I posted that, the Rangers have put a little (five points) distance between them and second. But second thru fourth are only two standings points apart. It will be an interesting next three weeks. The Caps have ten games left and seven are against teams that would be in the playoffs with today’s standings.
On January 6, when they fired Randy Carlyle, the Toronto Maple Leafs were 21-16-3, eighth in the East, and +9 in goal differential.
Since then Toronto has gone 6-23-3.
Worst coaching change ever?
Well, I certainly think so. I didn’t think it could ever be as bad as the Ballard years again. I was mistaken and it’s very difficult to continue to be a fan of this organization.
On the plus side, at least the Senators are making it interesting. Both the Leafs and the Senators were available in this region on TSN last night. Guess what game I watched?
Cries of “Tear it all apart!” shouted by sports fans are usually bullshit, but in the case of the Leafs, they should just blow it up and start over. I can’t understand how DAve Nonis is still employed. I can’t understand what Brendan Shanahan does.
A popular opinion when it comes to the Leafs is that Phil Kessel is a good player on a bad team. Don’t blame Phil, he just doesn’t have a good center, not his fault he’s overpaid, so on and so forth. Honestly, I think Kessel is just a terrible player. I thought he was something when they got him from Boston but at this point he absolutely is not a quality NHL player; he doesn’t score THAT much, doesn’t pass well, and probably wouldn’t be a particularly good player if he scored 40 goals because he’s a dreadful defensive player. He is basically now what Vince Carter was and the dismal end of his tenure in Toronto, a guy with all the talent you could ask for who was great a few years ago and is now so checked out and so one-dimensional he’s really not worth having around. If someone would take his contract I would suggest the Leafs would be well advised to literally give him away. And this is a guy they tried to build the team around. The team’s sense of who’s good as who’s bad is just so completely mixed up now they’d be better off exploding everything and starting over, including fresh management.
Nailed it.
I said pretty much the same thing back in post #194.
As much as I love Shanahan, he is another one of those guys who seems to keep getting better exec jobs, without ever having showed any ability at his current or previous ones. Matt Millen, Lane Kiffen, Isiah Thomas etc.
Anyone catch the butt goal by Brandon Sutter? (They usually posts gifs on the main site, but they don’t seem to be up at the moment)
Heh.
I miss Brandon.
Well shit.
Capgeek.com is no longer active.
Turns out the owner of the site, Matthew Wuest, has died of colon cancer, at the age of 35.
I don’t know if you guys used that site, but I sure did.
RIP Matt.
Check out what the standings looked like on Feb 9. Today, Ottawa sits in a playoff spot with a game in hand over the Bruins. I still don’t understand how this is possible – 15-1-1 in their last 17 games!
He shut it down a couple of months back. Sucks, he made an awesome site, and will be missed.
