NHL 2015 Playoffs: The Thread

Hope you have seen the t-shirt for Hawks fans to wear in Tampa, bobot. Check it out here.

Crawford does it again! When is he going to learn that he needs to be in position to cover that low tip?

Love it!

Yeah. He should have known that 2 inch spot was vulnerable and covered it. Along with every other 2 inch opening in the net open to tipping,

From the angle that both of those tips goals were scored on, he can take the whole net away. He just needs to be in proper position rather than standing and watching.

I thought this was funny, in regards to Tampa attempting to keep Hawks fans out of the stadium.

I believe Ted Leonsis tried to the same thing – especially to Pittsburgh fans. If you were calling from a certain area code, you were blocked from buying Capitals tickets. When he was called out on it, he basically said, “screw you”.

And this wasn’t for play-off tickets, just the regular season.

So, the Coyotes are having issues, again. At this point, no matter what anybody says, the Coyotes are not long for Arizona. Given the events of the last couple of years I wonder where they will actually end up.

Quebec City seems like the logical location.

!!!

Congratulations to the Hawks. Inspiring performance and well deserved.

I picked Tampa in my pool, and wanted to see Stamkos win a cup. On the other hand I have no issues with Chicago (an original 6 team) winning the cup. Well done. Good year. I’m sad it’s over.

Hard-fought series all around. God, I’m going to miss NHL playoff hockey. There really is nothing comparable. I’m glad I had a six-pack around to calm my nerves. Tampa is young, and I expect to see a lot from them in the future. This was probably the hardest-fought Stanley Cup win for the Hawks so far (although 2013 was impressive with the series against Detroit, too.) Will be interesting to see who needs to go to fit under the salary cap next year. ETA: And kudos especially to Crow. Lots of clutch saves this game, and he gets marginal respect, but gets it done when it counts. That said, Bishop put away some stellar attempts today, too.

I wonder if we have a cause for Mike Richards worsening play?

Interesting. A friend and I were just discussing what could have happened to Richards today. I wish him well.

Do the Penguins really have half of their cap space allocated to five players on contracts until 2022? I heard that comment in conversation yesterday.

Red Wings have Mike Green - if he stays healthy I think that will be a good signing. Of course, the healthy caveat can be put on most of the signings.

I’m very happy with Green. Filled a huge need for an offensively productive right handed shooting D, in his prime, at a fair price.
Best move in years.

Glad to unload Kessel. Let the true rebuild begin in earnest now. I like what the Leafs got in the draft this year too. A few more years of pain, but for the first time in many years I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Patience.

Sad to see Greenie go, but the Caps have made some excellent moves. Justin Williams seems like an excellent fit for our needs - particularly our postseason woes. And now we’ve traded Troy Brouwer to the Blues for T.J. Oshie!? I’ve always been a fan of Oshie, so having him on the team is very exciting.

WHEN DOES NEXT SEASON START!?

The Leafs paying $1.2 million a year for the rest of Kessel’s contract makes me wonder: is that transferable? If they wanted to in a couple years could the Penguins trade him and pitch in $1.5 million a year so that the receiving team is only taking a $5 million cap hit? Kessel would then be paid by three teams at once. If such a thing is possible, what’s the highest number of teams that’s ever been paying a player at the same time?

Also, I think that Fleury’s contract goes until 2020. In that case the Penguins “only” have more than half the current cap tied up in five players until then.

I’m sure that’s entirely possible. I can’t answer the part about “the highest number of teams” though.
