For the third time now, Neil was kicked out of the game. He recieved a game misconduct at 17:54 of the third period.
Sorry, I looked it up – I thought he only got two minutes. You were right. Mea culpa.
Eh…who gives a shit. Chicago Blackhawks are 11-0-3.
We were soooo close to a shut-out tonight! Fleury would’ve broken Barrasso’s record, and he’d have another franchise record. (He has the most wins of any goalie in Pens history)
Dan Bylsma also had his four-year anniversary today.
It’s kind of hard to verify this for sure because the NHL is the only league I can think of where losing doesn’t necessarily mean you lose, but I believe the record for the most games to start a season without losing in regulation time is 15, by the 1984-85 Oilers.
They just showed the state during the current Blackhawks game. The oilers are second with 15, the Ducks fro 2006 are first at 16 games. The Blackhawks are tied for third with the '43 (?) Canadians.
Woohoo! Comcast in the Detroit area finally got CBC HD. I no longer have to choose between crappy ass announcers and crappy ass"where the hell is the puck" video for some games.
And the Hawks make it 15 without losing in regulation, beating LA. Now 12-0-3. They’re already eleven points above the playoff cut, are averaging a goal differential of 1.3 goals per game, and the 3 losses they do have, it should be pointed out, were all in the shootout - they haven’t actually lost a game playing hockey.
12-0-3
Blackhawks close in on season-opening points mark
Usually. Except when it’s his team on the wrong side of things. How quickly we forget.
Well yes, you’re quick to blindly jump to the defense of anything Pittsburgh, but that’s not what I was saying. I was talking about your confirmation bias–the tendency by people to only notice and/or remember things that support their beliefs–which in this case is that you seem to believe most people have a bias against the Penguins and only ever call for action against them.
Without delving into the psychology of that paranoia (here’s a tip: when it seems like everyone is ganging up on something you favor and you find yourself frequently defending it from all sides, it’s almost assuredly because everyone else is right and your loyalty is blinding you to the truth), the simple truth is that there have been several calls for action against players around here who aren’t named Matt Cooke.
And my point about Shanahan is that he’s already demonstrated that he won’t always do the right thing, so pointing to his action or inaction as justification for something is not evidence of anything.
I’M sooooo excited.
My boss just gave me tickets for tonight’s game Habs vs. Hurricanes. Even though Price is not the starting goalie and that idiot White is back in the lineup, hope he cleans up his act.
And they are excellent tickets… I can’t wait
Sweet! Enjoy!
I was listening to Phil Esposito and Scott Laughlin on XM92 yesterday and they covered the whole gamut about Cooke’s history and his play style. They noted that he brings his foot off the ice OFTEN when he checks, so they seriously doubt the intent to injure.
But they do take umbrage against the NHLPA for not stepping up to enforce the players to wear more protective gear (like kevlar socks). Esposito even went as far as to say that players of his era always taped down the tongue of the skateboot back and around the back of the skate because slashing the achilles (with the stick) was very rampant in his playing days, and if you want to be an effective player, you had to take the time to wear the right type of gear to protect your self from intentional plays AND unintentional plays. In no way am I blaming Carlsson for not protecting himself adequately, but the NHLPA should be at least addressing this league-wide in order to protect their players.
I trust Esposito’s commentary that the incident was unintentional through his own rationale as a former player…not just a fan.
If the Caps finish last and draft either Jones, Nicushkin or MacKinnon that would be fine by me. Or if they make it to the playoffs and have a mighty good run at the Finals that would be fine by me, too. Just don’t be middlin.
13-0-3, baby! But they had to make it interesting there at the end, didn’t they? Vancouver-Blackhawks is always a fun game.
It was especially nice to see Ryan Kesler fail under the pressure of the final shootout attempt. And to see him called for the dive in the 2nd. What a punk.
That shot on Hossa was typical Vancouver. Hanson should be suspended.
Now Craig Anderson’s injured. You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.
How has Ben Bishop looked? The stat line looked pretty good against the Devils. I have Anderson in my $$$ fantasy league, so I immediately grabbed Bishop since there isn’t much else available.
Well that sucked. Checkers lost to the Atlantapeg ThrashJets.
If it weren’t for bad luck, the Sens wouldn’t have any at all this year. They’ve still plugged along nicely, all things considered, but eventually all of these injuries are going to catch up to them.
Losing Anderson for any amount of time is a huge blow because I don’t think Bishop is ready to be the #1 and that’s shaping up to be a very rough division.
Last night was not a good night for injuries.
Taylor Hall to have a phone hearing today about his knee-on-knee hit on Clutterbuck which, to me, doesn’t seem like enough. Have to imagine the target of his hit has a lot to do with that. We’ll see where the Wheel of Justice stops.
