To start off the NHL February thread, I thought I’d post the “true” NHL standings as of the end of January. In these “true” standings, shootouts are ignored. Any game going to a shootout is just a tie worth one point. Also any game lost in overtime is simply a loss for no points. The final column is the points the NHL has for each team. The biggest beneficiaries seem to be the Bruins and Anaheim who are 11 and 17 points up over second place Tampa and San Jose rather than 4 and 11. Boston is also only one point behind Pittsburgh for overall first in the East. Chicago drops two places in the Central with Colorado gaining a lot of points ground.
I can’t recall how to create a table and the FAQ doesn’t seem to tell me, so I hope this is readable:

Yeah it would hurt the Canes, but I could go without the shootout. Or go for the 3/2/1 points for Reg win/OT win/OT loss.
I hope the Canes can keep piling up the points in February.
