I wanted to see if anyone was interested in joining a NHL hockey draft pool.
Total points to keep it simple. (G and A = 1 pt)
I was thinking of a Yahoo live draft on Sunday, Sept 23 (or Sat the 22) at 6 pm Mountain Time. (5 pm pacific - 8 pm eastern)
Sayyyyyy, just skaters, no goalie, 12 skaters or so, depending on the number of entrants, with no restrictions for positions, but I am open to all suggestions.
“Snake” picking order. (the person picking last in the first round will pick first in the second round and so on.)
Without the need to adjust player rosters, it will be very simple to play so those who have no idea what they are doing will still have a decent chance of being competitive.
So… Anybody?
I’ll create the league on Yahoo based on the feedback I get here, and start a new thread with the details if there is enough interest.
I would like to try…forgive me ahead of time, but I am a rookie to any sort of draft pools, so I might ask some pretty simple questions as time goes on.
I will not be available for 9/22, but Sunday the 23rd should work. Thanks meek for letting me know about your thread…I totally missed it.
Custom League URL: Yahoo
Draft Type: Live Draft
Draft Time: Sat Sep 22 4:30pm MDT (6:30 pm Eastern time) (Yahoo made me choose this time - Sunday only offered a 7am draft time for some reason)
Max Teams: 12 (I can edit this as needed)
Scoring Type: Points Only
No player acquisitions allowed
No trades allowed
No waivers
Start Scoring on: Monday, Sep 24
We all draft a roster of 8 forwards, 3 D-men and a goalie.
Goals= 1pt.
Assists= 1pt.
Goalies earn 2 points for a win and 3 points for a shutout.
Rather than start a new thread, I’ll ask a passing Mod to please edit the title of this thread.
Is this ok with everybody? Any other suggestions?
There are a few spots still open right now, so head on over and let the trash talking begin!
Click on the link that Meek provided. A page will appear saying “There was a problem.” Right over the “a,” there is a link to “sign up now.” Clicking on said link will provide instructions for signing up. Select the “Join Existing League” tab, and then click “Accept an invitation to join existing league.” From there, use the info which Meek provided and you’re set.
You can pre-rank all of the players if you still want to join in. What you do is you rank players in order of preference. The computer will always draft the highest available player on your list for you. You don’t have to rank all of the players, and if your list runs out, then it will use the default rankings supplied by Yahoo sports.
I think I’m in there! I just completed the online forms, picked the order in which I wanted to draft players. . . but what’s next? (This is my first online fantasy hockey league. . . forgive me).
Tripler
Oh hell yes, I know who I want to pick, but did I do it?
What’s next? You wait. And wait. Until the draft day clock gets to zero. Then, when it goes to zero, draft day starts and rankings are assigned. If you are online, you get to pick from the available players. If you aren’t, Yahoo will pick based on the list of draft picks which you created. So… for the next week, you do nothing but contemplate who is the dark horse who will have a breakout 100 point season. My vote goes to Marek Malik
