What are you talking about, “only remaining marketable skill”?!?! He has to work for that body to make those workout DVDs and sell them to desperate puck-bunny housewives!!!
No, I don’t own one. Yes, I have seen part of one. No, I don’t regret it one bit, but I really learned nothing about exercise techniques!
Last week was a holiday for the NHL, right, Kenner? Players had the week off…right? Right?
Can we have Patches back now? How about Markov? Gorges? …Spacek…? No?
Note: I definitely agree with the suspension to Matt Cooke. I think the League’s actions were totally correct there. This has nothing to do with my feelings as a Pens fan – and if you don’t believe that, well, that’s just too damned bad. cough[sub]soulmurk[/sub]cough
But at this point, is the League really serious about dangerous play and headshots? Or do they care more about P.R. and $$$$? :dubious:
I’m glad to hear Bertuzzi appologized. That’s good on his part. But the League isn’t doing its duty, either. As for Cooke, time will tell.
(BTW, if anyone wants to discuss any hypocrisy on the part of Mario Lemieux, start a new thread, because I’m done talking about it in this one. And I’m sure everyone else here is sick of it.)
Well, as one last point, I should point to this Off the Record interview Wayne Gretzky gave on TSN, where he of all people said we should try scrapping the instigator on a trial basis, just so hawkish fight fans like myself will shut up for at least a season. Link.
Just an interesting point of contrast to Lemieux, is all.
Who would have thought the Hammer break the goal drought for the Habs (though worded that way, it makes perfect sense!)? And Darche scoring 11 seconds later, and AK46 reaching the 20 goal mark (though he’s capable of 30+, really!)
It was a good game to get back on track with, marred only by a moment of really, really poor officiating. High stick on Gill, he bends over and is bleeding all over the place from a cut next to his eye, the play continues, and an Atlanta goal gets scored because of the 2-on-1 the injury caused. The refs discussed it, but despite pretty much admitting they fucked up, didn’t overturn the goal, because somehow all 4 officials on the ice managed to not see a 6’8" (+ 3" for skates) defenseman next to the puck keeling over in pain. I think Price would have had a shutout had that penalty been called. I think it kind of sucks for Bill McCreary, as this was his last regular season game in Montreal. I’d be much angrier about it had the Habs lost though, and I think he’d hate to have that bad call be one of the last he’d be remembered for had the game turned on that goal.
What will it take to get a coaches challenge in hockey? One single challenge per game, with loss of the time-out or a 2 min penalty if you lose the challenge? Or something similar? Because bad calls like this can be avoided with better rules, IMHO.
Your feelings on Cooke’s suspension has never been a point of contention between us so I’m not sure why you’re calling me out about it.
The answer should be pretty obvious to everyone by now that all they care about is money (and Colin Campbell’s son). If Bertuzzi played for a team like Anaheim that wasn’t in the spotlight all the time, or more fans remembered what he did to Moore, he’d be getting held accountable.
Understandable. One can only blindly defend the indefensible so long before one tires of trying. Thanks for (not) bringing it up again though!
Wouldn’t have mattered a bit who was in net. You lose by two to four goals? That could be the goalie. Off night. Bad performance. That sort of thing can let in some goals on mistakes by the team. You get spanked for ten goals? That’s the entire team. When you’re leaving opposing players unchallenged in front of your net, bad things are going to happen. It’s like Detroit saw the beatings Holmstrom takes in front of the net and [del]stupidly[/del] gallantly said, “We’ll never to something like that to an opposing player!” They should’ve seen it and realized it’s what they should be doing to opposing players, but I guess they have far too much class for that.
And it still amazes me that a team with as much defensive talent as the Wings have can be so inconsistent and sloppy defensively.
Tonight is a must win game for the Dallas Stars. They really need to leave San Jose with 2 points tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. Should be a great game as the Stars did show some signs of life against Phoenix on Tuesday.
As a Vancouver Canucks fan, I am in the unique position of having my team with 4 games to go and not much left to accomplish.
Canucks clinched the Prez, 30 minutes before any other team in the Western Conference clinched a playoff spot.
Danny Sedin has 100 points. Pretty much a shoe in for points leader. With only games against soft opponents (Edmonton twice, Minni & Calgary) it is possible he’ll overtake Corey Perry for # goals.
Henrick Sedin has way more assists than anyone else. Pretty much got that wrapped up.
Luongo has 2 more wins than any other goalie.
So whats left really? I am reduced to cheering for the softest team to get to 8th place so the Canucks can sweep in 4 games.
For what’s left, let’s finish off the regular season here. It’s easier, IMHO.
Habs have been sucking lately, but then again they sucked last year going into the playoffs and made it to the ECF so who the hell knows what can happen? They play the Devils and Martin F. Brodeur tonight, which isn’t usually a good match-up for them!
[del]Wolverine[/del] Pacioretty skated yesterday, a light work-out for about 20 minutes. He’s one lucky kid, considering how much worse things could have been had that hit happened at just a tiniest other angle, or a bit sooner or later or…! He’s still got a ways to go, and might not be back this year, but it’s still so amazing to see him recover right now!
What I want to know, though, is how is Josh Gorges doing? There has been no news or updates about him, and we know he’s out for the season, but I’d still like to know if things are progressing well.
Kind of a weird day today schedule wise with plenty of afternoon games. Dallas’ last prayer comes today as they must beat the Kings and then hope that Chicago implodes.
