NHL - Oct-Nov-Dec 2016

Teams I Think Aren’t Actually As Good As Their Record Suggests:

  1. Philadelphia. Porous goaltending will kill you.

  2. Ottawa. Crazy lucky, really, to be 20-15.

  3. Calgary. They’re shooting lucky and, again, the goaltending has not been so great.

Teams Not Actually As Bad As Their Record Would Suggest:

  1. Toronto. Have actually scored more goals than they have allowed. 0-5 in shootouts, which is just terrible luck.

  2. Los Angeles. The Kings take 4 more shots per game than their opponents, one of the best margins in the NHL and that mediocre record suggests puck luck has been against them.

  3. Nashville. Same basic argument as LA, though not as strongly so.

Well, we now know the guy who tried to use John Scott’s kids to keep him out of the All-Star Game. No, it’s not Bettman.

Blue Jackets nearing an NHL record for consecutive victories, beating the Wild. A great way to start New Year’s Eve.

Penguins just won it in OT!!! FUCK YEAH!!! Happy New Year!!!

BTW, if you get the opportunity, the Pens organization has released a documentary for the 50th anniversary – all about the history of the franchise. Even if you’re not a fan of the team, it’d definitely be of interest to serious hockey fans.
