Yes! And its over for the Canucks…
Sadly, yes. But it was a good series.
Rysto and Harborwolf were the big winners on that one. They both called the Hawks in six.
At least we know who the Wings will be playing.
I’ve chosen a team in most series so far, but I can’t make up my mind in this one. I find myself cheering for whoever needs to score next in order to tie the game…!
As for Mr. Bettman, well, as a former resident of Hamilton Ontario, I’m hoping the Coyotes migrate next season!
Bogus call my rear. You can’t slash a stick out of someone’s hands. Stop whining about the refs. Now, I’m a Pens fan (and yes, there have been calls I’ve been very upset with…for instance, in game 6, before the too many men penalty against the Pens, there was a BLATANT interference penalty against the Caps that wasn’t called just before that…it should have been a Pens powerplay…but oh well). And while I’m disappointed that they lost, this is one of the most entertaining hockey series I’ve ever seen. It’s been awesome. Game 7 should be no different.
BTW…instead of being upset at the Refs, maybe you should be upset that the Caps keep giving up 40+ shots a game.
Yeah, it was, but the Canucks have only themselves the blame for losing it. They gave up the lead late in the game on multiple occasions, usually as a result of trying to sit on a lead rather than playing the aggressive type of hockey that got them the lead in the first place. The Blackhawks didn’t win that series; the Canucks lost it, and it was extremely frustrating to watch.
And, despite the fact that i’m rooting for the Caps against Pittsburgh, i have to agree with Jman about the slashing call. It looked pretty clear to me, and i thought it was a fair penalty. I don’t subscribe to the notion that the officials should let everything go just because it’s a playoff game; they should referee to the rules, and if someone clearly breaks them, then it should be a penalty.
And Boston escapes yet again with a 4-2 win. Gonna be two tired teams in the eastern conference finals.
Most of the way through the first and this is looking more like games 1-3 rather than 4-5. All Anaheim through the first. They’ve had more shots and better scoring chances. They’ve stuffed Detroit at the blue line. Not the start Detroit needed and certainly a more interesting game than I wanted.
Rafalski’s back. The only Detroit Red Wing from Detroit.
Boston has forced 7. I think the Canes are doomed.
QUACK!
QUACK!!
Sorry…just had to stick my beak in there.
Stay tuned for the third period.
Wow… This is ugly.
Unless a miracle happens, I just missed a pick. Pens are pounding the Caps 6-2. How desperate were the Caps? They put Theodore in.
I just really wanted Crosby to lose.
I’m going to assume you’re referring to the “brawl” that happened at the end of the game. Ugly’s a good word. Rafalski returns from injury to get ambushed at the end of a game by the winning team. Likewise Datsyuk. I’m not exactly sure what kind of message they were trying to send. “Refs, watch us extra carefully next game and call us for any infraction” is the only thing that springs to mind. Last thing the league wants is for a game 7 in the semis to get bad press for being riddled with petty thuggery.
How prophetic.
As it turns out, he’s kinda good…who knew?
The Caps were outplayed most of the series and without Varlamov this is a darn short series. He just played a bad game at the wrong time.
Boy…the thought of a Pittsburgh/Chicago final puts a smile on my face. It’s a bit of a stretch if Detroit it makes it through as I don’t see Chicago winning that but still, it’d give any time travellers from 2002 a heart attack.
Harborwolf: Yes, I was referring to the brawl at the end of the game. I haven’t heard any official decision re: fines/suspensions.
MTRG: That’s funny. I actually do claim to have the gift of prophecy, but I am limited to a five-second window. As in, “Hey, you should really not… Nevermind.” I didn’t see this game coming on the Caps tonight.
C’mon. Really? What the hell team showed up tonight? Did they get guys off the Chinatown Metro stop and throw skates and sweaters at them? I cry CONSPIRACY! (Hey, it’s Washington DC. Somebody got paid to throw the game, right?):dubious:
Excuse me, I have to go find a dog to kick.
No question Crosby is talented. It’s just (admittedly my perception of) his attitude. I think he still has some growing to do and a bit of time away from being “the chosen one of the NHL” would do him some good. Another loss out of the playoffs wouldn’t hurt either.
If Detroit loses, Chicago is my next team. They’ve a hell of a hockey city there and the Hawks going deep into the playoffs would make up for a lot of the crap they had to put up with over the last few years. I’d prefer Boston out of the east though. Original six team and all that.
Uncle Brother Walker: No suspensions which is a small surprise but I hadn’t expected any. What it will do is put a big red flag up for the refs to keep an eye on the ducks for anything that may put a black eye on the league. There simply was zero sense to what they did.
I was the 1992 Stanley Cup that comes to mind when you mention a Penguin Blackhawk matchup.
memories
However, Pittsburgh needs to deal with either one of two really hot teams first.
I don’t know which poison I would choose.
We will find out tomorrow.
Crosby? Meh. The Washington Post (and VerSus as well) did a graphic on where Crosby scores his goals. Most of them are either in the goal crease or within 2 feet. He’s a poacher. Only one of his playoff goals came from further than 20 feet of the goal. A loss would teach him a little humitlity and sportsmanship.
Now, GET OFF MY ICE, whippersnapper!!!
I’d heard such things about him, and the first goal tonight was scored that way. Makes him seem like Tomas Holmstrom without the requisite netfront beatings.
