We can’t be friends. Sorry.
Due to the Kings awesomeness, there will be no game tonight. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause to the typical hockey fan. Our next performance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 30th, 2012, at 8:00pm EDT, 5:00pm PDT when some Eastern Conference team straggles their way in to the Final round. Please tip your waitstaff generously on your way out, and have a good night.
Hmmm, I’m torn. You’re an Als fan, so I like that, but you are not a Habs fan, so I dislike that.
This decision of yours leaves me feeling kind of neutral.
Can I qualify my statement this way:
-
I was never allowed to play baseball at school, because despite having female gym teachers, we were told that “girls can’t play baseball.” Likewise for football and hockey.
-
I enjoy randomly batting at balls in the park or at the beach, but have never played an organized game and have no interest in it.
-
watching baseball on TV is dull. Sometimes the highlights are fun, though they are usually somewhat repetitive.
-
I like the Expos logo, and I love Youppi!
That’s about it.
So…let me know if you change your mind!
About hockey: crazy game last night. I have a feeling the Devils might take this series. Devils-Kings; no one could have predicted that!
Dr. Doan and Dr. Smith both misdiagnosed Mr. Rozsival’s injury last Tuesday. It was not the dreaded, career-ending “shredded knee” injury that they insisted upon, but a knee/thigh bruise. Stick to hockey, guys.
Must have graduated from the same medical school as Dr. Recchi.
I don’t suppose any of you are following the Memorial Cup?
Shawinigan Cataractes just destroyed the Edmonton Oil Kings to advance to the semi-finals, where they will play the Saint John Sea-Dogs. The Dogs and the Cats finished 1 and 2 overall in the QMJHL and there’s lots of hate there.
The winner of that game plays the London Knights for the Cup on Saturday, who earned a bye to the final.
In the three remaining teams, there are four Habs prospects: Tinordi (London), Beaulieu (St. John), Ellis and Bournival (both Shawinigan). Pretty much any team is worth cheering for, just for that!
Mnemosyne, watching baseball in person is 800,000 times better than on TV. And it’s never too late to play 3-pitch softball! Very lady friendly!
Devils are playing good. And they’re 1-0 in stanley cup finals against southern California teams with a 12-2 record!
I’ve been to an Expos game. Of course, it was nosebleeds, the Big Owe was empty and they lost, but I’ve been to a MLB game! In 1996. With a bunch of German exchange students. We couldn’t afford Habs tickets, obviously. Somewhere I have a picture of Youppi! from the 'Spos. I also have a picture of him as a Hab (though I think the photo was at a Bulldogs game).
What a useless stat…that will be seriously tested in a week.
15 were overtime losses though, and only St. Louis had a better total goals against going in to the playoffs. Quick and the D have been the real deal all year for LA, they just seemed to lack scoring punch. New coaching and the acquisition of Carter seem to have helped nudge them over the edge from the balance point to consistent winners.
The Kings had a ridiculous number of 1-0 losses, 6 or 7 I think.
Nice. Devils-Kings for the Cup.
Go Kings Go!
I have nothing but respect for Martin Brodeur. Class personified.
…and I will not miss Tortorella. But…
I. Am. So. Tired. Of. The. New. Jersey. Devils.
Go Kings!
I hope it was clear that I was being facetious with that stat, lol.
I loved Doc last night during the broadcast, right before the 2-3 period break…[paraphrasing] “During the break, the Devils trying to clinch, the Rangers have to win or go home–yes we are the masters of the obvious on our talk show.”
Thanks, Doc, you are the best.
looks it up IF they win (don’t jinx it!), the Kings will have their first Cup. So I gotta go with them. The Devils have had their day in the sun, move over.
(The suckiest part is after the play-offs end…NO MORE HOCKEY UNTIL THE END OF OCTOBER!!!)
Preseason starts mid September. Us lucky Hab fans get all the preseason games on tv.
I’m torn. The kings have a great story but I kind of want to see Brodeur take home another one.
Ah, I forgot about the pre-season! (Why do I always do that?) Pittsburgh may be a “Stiller tahn” first and foremost, but we do love our Pens. So we get to watch most of the games. (Not all of them, unfortunately, but there’s always Mike Lange on the radio)
True, it would be nice for Marty to have something in his old age, before he rides off into the sunset.
U mad?
Congrats to the Shawinigan Cataractes for beating the London Knights in overtime to win the Memorial Cup, in front of a home crowd. They had to play in every round (no earned byes), but beat the WHL, QMJHL and OHL season champions to earn the Cup. Talk about peaking at the right time!
