NHL: The Playoffs

Looking forward to the parade starting right by my office. This is a great week.

Jealous, this is honestly the first time I am sad that I moved away from LA. (actually second time, but the other time is not a happy memory).

If I can get any good pictures, I’ll post 'em. Not sure if I’ll be better off taking pictures from my office space or heading down to the street.

Fuck the pictures. Head down to the party.

LA should at least invite Bernier to the parade. Put him in one of the cars or something.

Congrats to the Kings. Maybe now people will know who you are.

You know something? You make a fine point.

Fuck yeah! Go Kings! (Next year though…) You totally deserved it. Now comes the sucky part…no hockey until the end of September…:frowning:

My cousin’s wife was at the Pens’ parade in 2009. She got some great pictures.
AND Sidney Crosby is about to sign a 10 year deal. WOOHOOO!!!

There’s always C-league hockey.

Reading through this thread from the beginning, does it surprise anyone that no one predicted a Kings win to get them to the finals? This makes it an even better Cinderella story!

But out of all my Kings fans/friends here inL.A., none of them thought about finals either.

But then…

Shit, somebody make a movie on this!

Maybe “WOOHOOO.” The contract is a risk. Not nearly as big a risk as letting him go elsewhere, but it’s still a risk. He’s missed a chunk of hockey in the last two seasons, and this may wind up being a bust if he gets one bad check.

Now if he makes it through the next season with no head injuries, you can legitimately “WOOHOOO.”

Except for that and the fact that the Pens need to make space for that over-sized contract so Staal will probably be gone.

It is going to be an interesting off season with some big names that will likely end up on new teams.

Bucking all logic Lamoriello has decided to keep this year’s first round pick rather than forfeiting it as part of the penalty for Koval-gate. Considering it’s a pretty weak draft I have to imagine he’s got something up his sleeve, because I really can’t see the reason in keeping it otherwise.

That was my thinking, especially given how far back they’re going to be this year…trading up and drafting high for a Parise replacement?

Sorry for the potentially poor quality – I just uploaded these raw, and they’re from my cell.

Had a great “seat” right up against the railing for the parade!

Nice shots! Wish I could’ve joined you down there, but work wouldn’t allow it. Been trying to watch online since noon, but lakings.com kinda sucks. :frowning:

Bah. I inadvertently uploaded the thumbnails instead of the full photos. New link coming shortly.

Take two: Kings’ Victory Parade Photos

For anyone else looking to watch, I’m getting better luck at foxsportswest!

How big was the crowd? I know the Kings don’t have as much fans as the Lakers, but was there at least 100k people there?

Also, I heard a radio commercial calling the guy “An-zay”, like how its spelled. But is it really pronounced “An-jay”?

I never heard any figures, but I haven’t looked, either. It certainly wasn’t super crowded where I was standing, but that was at the very beginning of the route. I have heard from other attendees, though, that the route was much more packed further down the street (as you got closer to Staples Center).

Bob Miller says An-zhay, and I take the man at his word.
