At least they went right back to the replay. But yeah, talk about your sportus interruptus.
I lived in Phoenix and while the Glendale border is close to Phoenix, the arena as well as the Cardinals stadium are not that close to the central area of Phoenix. In regular workday traffic, it is easily an hour get from Central Ave near the I 10 Freeway to the Coyote’s arena.
The latest on Phoenix: http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2013/06/21/phoenix-coyotes-no-arena-deal-yet-but.html
And the latest from that is both sides are in a stalemate: Glendale wants the voodoo revenue streams guaranteed and RSE refuses.
Another hilarious plan was developed by someone in the business community and they are having a formal presentation with the council sometime soon: the city would lease, then leaseback, it’s city hall to a private corporation, making enough revenue that they would be able to own the Coyotes outright. Of course, that’s strictly illegal since the Winnipeg debacle in the 90’s, but in Phoenix it seems like anything is possible these days.
We’ll have to see what the story turns out to be on Bergeron, but I don’t like the Bruins’ chance of coming back in this series without him.
[Maxwell Smart]That’s the second biggest last minute collapse I’ve ever seen.[Maxwell Smart]
That sure was something to watch wasn’t it?!
Chicago Blackhawks, the best team from the first game to the last! Great series.
It was a great series, and a great final game.
Congratulations Chicago, you deserved it.
Ain’t never seen anything like that before. Resigned to a 7 at home for my cousins, then boom! Amazing even to a southerner that never played.
Ooooooooh… Well, that’s a first. Within 60 seconds I say, “Looks like game 7! Oooop. Looks like OT! Oooop.”
I’m sad cause I wanted a game 7, just because they’re fun! Blackhawks deserved that win. Kelly’s stick got right on the rebound, little lift, then lift the cup.
Interesting question: How many NHL games have featured both teams having to pull their goalies for an extra attacker, other than the one tonight, obviously? I’ve never even heard of it happening.
Lecavalier’s been released on amnesty. Man that is an interesting one. Never quite reached his absurdly overhyped potential, but had a great year, several good years, and a bunch of disappointing ones. Plus a fair number of injuries that have added up over the years.
And still only 33, lot’s of hockey years left if he wants them. If he found a good line where he click and got re-energized could be a real team changer. Basic assumption is he has always wanted to play in Montreal, I guess now is his chance.
Wow. But I don’t think Montreal has the cap space.
According to capgeek.com they have about $9M space and still about a half dozen spots to fill.
Just for the record, Patrice Bergeron played the last game with:
A broken rib
Torn rib cartilage
A punctured lung
A dislocated shoulder
He’s still in the hospital.
Dude’s a hockey player.
I started a new thread here to discuss the NHL draft and offseason.
