Ni No Kuni on PS3 anyone?

This is one scenario where, perhaps ironically, Final Fantasy XIII’s model is a good illustration of how they should have done things (at least in that it made switching paradigms/tactics sets very easy). Probably the biggest problem with the tactics in this game is that changing them is a pain. You have to unsummon your monster to change tactics. Not only that, but they put the menu like 3-4 clicks down the menu. Further, you can’t do it before battle, only while the monsters are trying to attack you. If they wanted you to switch tactics often, they really needed to make it snappier.

Aside from that though, the AI is still really stupid. More than once I was on “don’t use abilities” and the AI characters would just brilliantly unsummon their monsters and run into battle spamming their 1 damage weapons against all reason.

The “All Out Attack” and “All Our Defense” quick changes are a blessing, but it’s a bit too little too late.
