I posted previously requesting on what to see or avoid when going to Niagara Falls. I got pretty consistent advice and followed most of it. FWIW, Maid of the Mist, Behind the Falls and Whitewater Walk were all worth doing. We did the jet boat thing and it was expensive but also worth it. I couldn’t see going all the way up there and not getting wet (really wet). The butterfly conservatory was also pretty neat. Watching kids with all those butterflies around them was almost as good as the butterflies themselves. The Clifton Hill area is a huge tourist trap and, other than walking through it to pick up some bottles of wine for the room, we pretty much avoided it. I was prepared for the area to be expensive but $6.50 for a domestic bottle of beer and $16 for a basic chicken breast sandwich was a little over the top. I live in a tourist town and those prices would never fly. There is A LOT of money being made up there.
Glad you liked the Jet Boat. We have a delegation here from The Other Oxbridge College and I am trying to convince them to go.
Hoo boy, you got ripped. There are plenty of great places to eat within a short walk of Clifton Hill with reasonable prices. Wish I’d thought of some of them before hand.
Glad you liked the place for the most part, though!
Local Fallsian checking in. Glad you had a good time. Wish I’d seen your earlier thread. I could have given you some good restaurant recommendations not too far off the tourist track that are much more affordable.
The prices in the central tourist core are downright insane. The local paper often publishes letters from tourists that usually start off very complimentary about the town and the people, but then go on to tear into the hotels and restaurants about over-the-top price gouging.
