Nice Going, Obama! (Brazil Chooses SAAB over Boeing)

And you’ll have to go all the way back to Sweden to exchange one of the two left wings for the right one.

The Republicans are pushing very hard for a plane designed with two right wings.

You don’t think ralph124c came up with that on his own, do you? It’s being suggested pretty widely in reporting about the contract. There’s just not much to confirm it. (The New York Times plays it safer and says “The announcement comes at a time of heightened tension between the United States and Brazil.”) In the article a Brazilian minister is asked if the NSA scandal played a role, and he doesn’t say no. But an analyst said costs were probably more important.

No, I just want to know who Ralph is parroting this week.

More than a few people.

But I have a feeling this wasn’t a problem for ralph124c until Obama started doing it.

The Brazilian government is extremely pissed off about the NSA spying scandal. There were reports a few months back that the NSA had hacked into Petrobras’s computer networks. It was enough for the Brazilian president to call off a state visit in which they were going to discuss among other things a $ 4 billion dollar jet fighter deal. I think that the NSA spying played a part in the deal not going through, but some of this is also local politics. She is facing reelection next year, and the polls hadn’t been in her favor. Her cancellation of the state visit and strong response to the spying revelations played a part in her polls getting a needed bump.

I have a ton of IKEA stuff - for the price point - its awesome. Some things are awesome even without the price point. Their down comforter that I have on the kids beds is every bit as good as the one I bought for four times the cost.

Exactly HOW does this relate to Obama’s duplicity killing a Brazilian fighter deal?

You cheered for intelligence services torturing and murdering people, innocent or guilty. But you don’t like spying (unless it costs Boeing money, I guess). How does that work?

The difference is that if some other country had reacted to something during the Bush administration, ralph would have instinctively said that the other country was wrong. Now that a country is reacting to the Obama administration (if that is the case) ralph puts the blame on the President. If you argue with a Republican President, you’re wrong and if you argue with a Democratic President, you’re right.

Indeed, a Republican President would *never *alienate America’s allpfffff sorry I couldn’t keep a straight face. Were you in a coma over the last 15 years, by any chance ?

Also, why did Obama move the U.S. so it became Brazil’s neighbor?

Brazil, Mexico. Who the hell can tell the difference?!

One could also ask when Brazil was an American ally. The United States and Brazil are both members of the OAS but that’s not an alliance system (Cuba’s also a member and I doubt anyone would describe Cuba as an American ally).

Agenda 21. They hushed it all up of course. Google maps is part of the conspiracy.

Hasn’t the NSA spying program been around for a lot longer than five years. I don’t think that you can just put the blame on Obama for this. It started up under the Bush administration, and Obama continued it. Hell, the US has meddled in Brazilian politics before, don’t forget Operation Brother Sam.

Minecraft!!!

Ralph, I think most of the people here are not actually thinking that this story is funny, they are thinking that it is funny when you try to post about… well anything to be truthful. You are a professional comedic writer, right?

In fairness, that’s pretty much the standard right-wing line. Doesn’t everybody remember all the folks who were saying it was treasonous not to toe the line with Bush’s oversteps because, by god, you don’t argue with the President in times of War!. What are those people doing now?

Yep, blame it on Bush (c)!
Only problem, Obama has been using that one for 5 years now…it is wearing a bit thin!
But (of course) he (Obama) learned about it from the news media-he doesn’t have time to do his job!
