Here’s a good site I found that allows you to compare COVID rates for different countries.
I like the fact that each graph starts on the date the country reported it’s 100th case, so the curves are comparable over time.
They also use a 7 day average, which smooths out some bumps.
The graphs are also adjusted for cases/100k population, so this makes the comparisons more meaningful.
You can mix and match the countries using the buttons on the bottom.
When comparing Canada, UK, Italy and the USA, it is quite striking in that it shows that the US never really lowered the case rate by much, and is currently experiencing an increase, unlike these other countries. Very worrisome.
That’s a nice kind of graph for one set of purposes, but I’d like to see a comparable graph that reflects each country’s spread and death rate as a function of real dates. Preferably for both raw numbers of people and for percent of that country’s population. I’ve seen nice ones in the past but not of the constantly updated variety.
Yes, that kind of graph would be good to see exactly WHEN a country started to increase (or decrease) in cases.
I recently saw a graph that was like the ones in the link above, but lumped all of the EU countries together and compared it with the USA. It was quite disturbing to see that the US only decreased a little in # of daily cases, and then started a recent steep increase… while the EU showed a steady decrease.
It does not bode well for the future (September - onwards)
Very neat site. Makes Brazil look like it’s heading for catastrophe, very disturbing.
Sweden’s ‘do nothing’ approach doesn’t look too wise.
USA and UK looking as bad as we are all too well aware.
That is a great site. I’m surprised India’s aren’t higher.
