If anyone else besides me loved the television series “Nichols” starring James Garner and Margot Kidder, there is going to be a Nichols marathon on Saturday on the DECADE network. I don’t know if this is a new channel or what. It is new where I live.
May.
I haven’t seen it, but would like to. It’s a clear precursor to The Rockford Files, which was excellent.
It will also be on getTV if you have an affiliate in your area. I’m looking forward to it. “Nichols” also co-starred Stuart Margolin, who later played Angel Martin in “The Rockford Files.”
I remember liking it, but I was about twelve years old and liked a lot of things. He was a sheriff who refused to carry a gun, if I remember right.
I did enjoy that program.
So, anybody watching it? I’m recording it, but also watching some episodes while I’m recording. This show, what I’ve seen, is very enjoyable. The light tone carried over to “The Rockford Files,” which I also like. You can see why Garner and Margolin were later teamed up in “Rockford.” They worked very well together. Meta Rosenberg was executive producer of “Nichols” and Juanita Bartlett was a writer. Both later had the same roles on “Rockford.” In fact, “Rockford” could have been “Nichols” set 60 years later. GetTV is having marathons of “Hondo” and “A Man Called Shanandoh” over the next two weeks, then will start showing the series weekly after that. I’m looking forward to watching all of the episodes when they air.
Watch for the fifty-star US flags in Margot’s bar.
My God, she was one luscious little babe back in the day! :o
Sorry I had the wrong network. Did anyone see it? GETTv where I live had football all day and then movies.
And there is as good a reason as any to NOT watch it. Man, I hated Angel.
Maybe it’s actually Margolin. I hated him in the Magnum PI episode he was in, too.
I did watch Nichols when it was new, but I watched a little of the marathon and didn’t remember a single episode.
“Am I my brother’s keeper?”
“The answer to that is* supposed *to be yes!”
We wuz framed!
