Nickelback's "She Keeps Me Up" -- Is this about interracial romance?

And in the video, the featured woman is, in fact black.

I mean, is this song as tone deaf and casually racist as it seems to be? Or am I missing some context or something? I don’t see anyone calling it out elsewhere online.

If you read all the lyrics, it doesn’t come across particularly racist- it’s a song about a guy who is infatuated with a girl who he knows is a bad idea, but can’t help it.

If anything, the racism here is in assuming that words like “monkey” or “sister” automatically equates to black women.
