Nicolas Cage's best movie

I would have to say the best work of Nic Cage was in Wild at Heart, followed distantly by 8MM and Lord of War. I haven’t seen Adaptation but I have heard he gives a good performance in it.

Unlike many people, I do not detest Cage (or Kevin Costner, another very polarizing actor) - I think he’s good at playing a certain kind of character, and he fits some roles very well. I was never a fan of his flashy action flicks; I don’t think his hangdog countenance and delivery is a good fit for those roles. But I think he’s great in the above films I mentioned.

Does anyone here like him or have a favorite Nicolas Cage film, or is he as reviled here as he is among most of my peers?

I find Face/Off quite watchable, but his best is probably Raising Arizona.

I’ll go with…Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Did he have two seconds of screen time in that movie or what? Because I sure as hell don’t remember him in that movie. Little help?

Without a doubt: Raising Arizona.

Second best: Moonstruck.

He’s had some decent rolls lately, like Adaptation, but he was better (fresher?) when he had his youth backing him up. Now he’s just sort of stale.

Yeah I was just joking, he had a cameo but that’s it. The funny thing is after he became much more famous, my brother noticed an ad for the movie (maybe it was in a TV guide, or on a VHS box, or something) that said NICHOLAS CAGE like he was the star of the movie or something.

Wild At Heart. He has a lot of the same power E had.

One of Spiccoli’s buddies. Eric Stoltz is another one.

Cool, I obviously didn’t even know he had a cameo.

And yeah, I’ve seen that happen a couple of times with some older movies that had a cameo by a future big star. Nothing comes immediately to mind, but I’ve definately seen it happen.

Anthony Edwards was the other stoner, not Nicolas Cage. He was one of Brad’s (Judge Reinhold’s) friends.

Yeah, it showed him working behind the counter at the restaurant for just a few seconds. I don’t even think he spoke in the movie.

I haven’t seen Raising Arizona or Wild at Heart, but my favorite of his is Lord of War. Knowing was also pretty good.

What, no votes for Con Air?
:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m going to have to go with Leaving Los Vegas. Raising Arizona is close.

Okay. It’s been a long long time since I’ve seen it.

I’m gonna say The Family Man.

And I’m leaving my Man card underneath the front doormat, in case anyone wants to come around and pick it up.

Con Air sucked.
Moonstruck and esp Raising Arizona were his best.

Here is how you can redeem a few Man Points. Hopefully enough to keep your card long enough for you to do something Very Manly.

I can provide you with a few Man Cards that other guys have lost and you must rip them up. With your teeth. Quickly, no gumming and straining.

The minimum is three to keep your card. Tear up more and you get the corresponding Man Points to go with them.

So how many shall I provide?

Ah, save 'em for somebody else, I’m probably a hopeless case.

True fact. I once won Season One of 24 from a radio station, and I took the DVDs to Wal-Mart, let them give me $35.00 for them and used the money to buy a dress.

I can’t believe this thread actually got 17 replies. I’m going to have to start one for Kevin Costner tomorrow.

Don’t forget Valley Girl.
