Night for Nixie (which I worked on)

I finally got around to looking for reviews of Night for Nixie, a film by my best fiend. Here’s the story:

I found this review Sy Bell’s Cult Movies":

I added bolding to “well shot” because I was First Unit Photography. I also did much of the lighting for the first unit stuff.

I agree with Bell about the “stock footage”. I thought it went on a little too long in the “single segment” that he mentions. (The WTO riot footage was not part of that segment, and was shot by the Director.)

And I thought that the story could have been made more clear. Explanations are there, but you have to be paying attention. It helps if you know something about Conspiracy Theories. References are made to the “Wisenheimers”, which is a take-off of the Bilderbergers; “Sanmento” sounds an aweful lot like Monsanto; “Ewige Blumenkraft” was a password for the Illuminati; “Lee Bowers” was a witness to the Kennedy assassination, who died in a mysterious one-car crash. And so on. And while people pick up on “Christina Chatterbox”'s singing vagina, I would like to have had more thigh movement.

But I have to disagree with Bell about the score. The now-defunct Georgia Pacific’s Tin Can Gun is brilliant.

Anyway, I it was a nice review. And I’m glad that he mentioned the photography and lighting.

Congrats Johnny, how do I get a copy?

Thanks, jimpatro. I’ll pass the congratulations along to my friend when he returns from his holiday.

Night for Nixie is available from Custom Flix.

[sub]Parental warning: This film contains nudity and naughty language.

Hey, Custom Flix is a very cool site. Mr. Beckwall is an editor/frustrated videographer, and he’s gonna love this. Thanks.

beckwall: I haven’t dealt with Custom Flix myself, either as a customer or a filmmaker. My friend likes them though. He has Cut Up on Sub Rosa, and he’s not satisfied with Sub Rosa’s efforts at marketing it. I’ve only heard him say good things about Custom Flix.

Obviously, since I’ve never dealt with them, I’m not in a position to endorse Custom Flix; but word-of-mouth sounds promising. From what I’ve heard, they would be a good place for Mr. Beckwall to at least check out.
