Nightlife in Newport, RI?

Can anyone out there tell me about nightlife in Newport RI?

My friend’s sister is trying to plan a bachelorette party in July for my friend, and is wondering what sorts of nightlife options exist in Newport.

The plan at the moment is pretty vague:

  • Stay at family’s beach house
  • Go to beach during the day
  • Go out & do bachelorette things in the evening, like drinking & dancing

None of us know anything about Newport’s nightlife.

This isn’t going to be a pull-out-all-the-stops, drive-around-shrieking-in-a-limo and annoy-our-fellow-bargoers type of affair. We’re not trying to cook up an evening of debauchery. Just some drinks and dancing.

Any helpful thoughts?

I haven’t gotten into the nightlife at Newport at all, but here is a list of the Best of Newport.

I wouldn’t worry too much, as Newport is pretty much one street if you’re trying the nightlife. Park and take a walk through downtown. You’ll be able to tell which places are fun as you go through.

As it turns out, the bride’s sister is going this weekend to Newport to do a trial run.

From what you’ve written, it sounds like we’ll have an easy time finding places to go, without having to drive around.
