I feel kind of old and boring saying this, but the thought of a crazy night out involving tequila and strippers does not fill me with glee. I am too old for that shit. Plus strippers are hard to come by in Seoul.
I am seriously thinking about doing something kind of dorky, like packing a picnic lunch with the girls and spending the day at an amusement park. Or even renting a house in the country and doing a BBQ and wine night.
Instead of a bachelorette party, I had an afternoon tea with my best girlfriends. It was held at my mom’s house (where the wedding was held) and a group of her friends joined us. The older women brought their wedding albums with them and we spent the afternoon on the porch, drinking tea and looking at wedding pictures from the 50s and 60s. It was fantastic.
I’m not married but I set up my sister’s. I bought a bunch of penis-themed party favors and we and two others went to a club and tried to make my uptight sister relax We tried to make her order the drink “Adios Motherfucker” to no avail She can’t say that. She did wear her penis tiara and necklace though, I have to give her that.
I just threw one for a friend. I got the props from Spencer’s - bachelorette sash, penis-shaped lollipop, mug with a penis-shaped straw that says “fucking bride” - but the weather was bad, so we stayed close to home. Bought her dinner out, got snacks and wine at 7-11, drank at home and slept over! Nice and mellow.
For mine this summer, my sister says she’ll take us to the dueling piano bar and then show “Magic Mike” at the sleepover. I am fine with drinking and being silly and watching a stripping movie, but no actual skeevy clubs for me!
I’m not married, but my best friend is and for her bachelorette party we had dinner in a swank restaurant and then went to an arcade and played Laser Tag. None of us are the tequila/strippers/penis-themed party favors type (and her two under-aged sisters were in the bridal party, precluding those things anyway) so we all thought this was pretty fun. Another good friend, like Silvorange, had a slumber party in a hotel.
My best friend “borrowed” her parents house because they have a great deck. About ten girls, and one gay guy sat out all night, drinking girly drinks, laughing and telling stories. I got a couple of gag gifts, and a couple of very nice pieces of lingerie. We ate food from Maggianos. It was a blast.
I had a slumber party. We ordered Indian food, made froufy blender drinks and watched 80s movies. We also had a bunch of makeup and nail polish & stuff and got tarted up like 12 year olds trying on makup for the first time.
We planned to play mini golf in fancy dresses but I was too tired to bother. The reality was, my ladies flew in from three different states, and stayed with me in a big house we rented instead of having hotel rooms. So seeing them and chilling like old times was pretty much the greatest.
I just today got an invite to a bachelorette party on April 6. It’s from 1pm-midnight!
We’ll be dressing up the bride, going shopping at a local outdoor shopping area, eating dinner in said shopping area, stopping for fancy cupcakes, then watching the bride’s favorite movies in our PJs.
Hmmm… I guess its all about the other ladies involved. If it is a fun group of gals, I suppose it doesn’t matter what you do. That does involve quite a few costume changes.
Yeah I really like the bride, and she’s one of those people who everyone who knows her really likes her, so I don’t think a 11-hour hen night is that out of the question for her. Heck I hate dressing up and shopping but I’m excited just to spend the day with her and her lovely sisters
