Nightshadea, learn to type!

I’m not familiar with the poster in question - but after following the linked examples, I would politely suggest to them that a few extra moments ensuring their contributions are not as typographically awkward wouldn’t go astray.

I was wondering what the heck were you talking about, because I just can’t see “riddled” as an adverb, but hey, maybe there is some usage I wasn’t… uh… did you mean “verb”, no ad-?

I’m knot.

So what? A whole lotta people (by definition) will be of average intelligence or lower. Does that mean they don’t “deserve” to participate on a message board? Sure, there may be confusion or miscommunication, but that can happen to anyone. As long as someone is posting in good faith, they should be welcome. One of the most annoying things about this board is how snobby posters can be when it comes to intelligence (perceived intelligence, at that).

Gabriel Garcia Marquez describes in his memoir how 1- he was grateful for his editors because he couldn’t spell worth a damn and his grammar was atrocious, and 2- he was essentially innumerate (he couldn’t do even simple addition, like 3 + 5). If he had joined the SDMB*, a lot of posters would automatically discount him and his contributions because of all the typos and grammatical errors. Yet he is (was :() arguably one of the best writers of the 20th century.

  • well, or a spanish language equivalent.

nightshadea, don’t worry about it. Seems like most of us don’t give a shit. Textspeak bothers me much more than a few missing periods or commas, which actually don’t bother me at all.

I’m really curious as to whether this is true or not. Were you intending on Nightshades and simply hit the key next to the S?

Entitled? Of course not. But I didn’t think it was inappropriate to ask, since they themselves disclosed the disability.

I know. It’s why I asked which disability.
