Nike commercial

Has anyone seen the new nike commercial where theres a shoe with wheels and it kick the ball for a field goal? Is that physically possible? A… prolly 10 Lb. object gather enough velocity to equal that of a leg kicking a ball?
I dont really think its possible and it really is irrevalant to anything and doesnt really matter… thats why i put it in this subject.

Haven’t seen the ad, and it doesn’t appear to be available on the nike.com site, but in terms of physics, yes it’s possible. Say for example that a leg weighing 30 lbs. is moving at 30 mph when it kicks the ball. If the shoe weighs 2 lbs. (1/15 the weight), then it would have to be moving 15 times “the speed of leg,” or 450 mph, to impart the same force to the ball.

So it’s possible, though I don’t recall having seen a shoe travel at 450 mph unles it was on a pilot’s foot.

Again though, I haven’t seen the ad, so maybe you’re talking about something more specific.

hmm… Well the shoe thing looks like its travelling… less than 30 mph for sure.
It just seems so fake and wrong.

Let me see if I got this straight. You saw an unoccupied shoe, travelling on its own, kick a field goal, and you suspect it might have been faked?!? I don’t know where to start. Let’s see. Newton’s 3rd law of figs states that…

Well its like a remote control car kinda thing, you can hear something powering it to go faster
but i just dont think its possible to have such a small object, not going that fast, kick a ball 30+ yards. Yes, a lot of stuff on tv is fake, but commcercials usually arent that fake…
