i have a nikon65 and i just took it out from about a month or two of storage and i am having a massive problem. not massive, but annoying. i loaded in my film and it did the whole grunting process and when i went to take a picture the fE E image came up on the menu. WHY?! i know it means there is an error but i didn’t do anything differently than normal. does anyone have ANY idea what could be off?
thanks.

difficulty in loading film with nikon f65
Hello guys,
Some times i find it very hard to load the film in my nikon f 65 camera. i place the film into the slot correctly, pull the lead just past the red mark and close the body. most of the times there is no problem, but occasionally (especially when there is a fleeting photo opportunity passing)it gives the error message and will require quite a few repeat attempts to load the film. this is my only complaint about my nice little camera i have been using for a few years now.

You might be pulling the film (just a smidge) too far. I would try lining up the film leader either just in line with the red mark or just before it (again, just a smidge). I have the F80, which loads the film in the same way. On the very rare occasion that this has happened to me (only a couple of times in hundreds of rolls of film), it’s been because I pulled out too much film.
If that doesn’t do it, then you might be starting to see some wear, or some other potential problem with the take up spool or transport mechanism.

Ronald,
Sometimes my wife’s N65 does the same thing, I pull the leader out a little more and it loads.

It happens every once in a blue moon with my N65. I used to just pull a little more film (I get at least one extra shot per roll, often 2 extra).
Another thing I noticed was that it was much more likely to happen if I accidentally left the camera on while loading the film, so make sure it is off.
