My favorite bit from that episode is when Daphne comes out wearing her lucky (but uncomfortable) pushup bra, discovers TSM is gay and whirls around and yanks off the bra in one fluid motion.
The line is in To Tell the Truth, Season Six, Episode 135. You can find it on youtube (I’m not linking due to copyright issues.)

“Big blue flash… Cherries everywhere”
Is that from the episode with the gay station manager. My favourite bit in the whole series is when Niles and TSM (the station manager) go into the kitchen. Niles is upset because he thinks TSM is here for a date with Daphne and TSM thinks he’s on a date with Fraiser. TSM asks Niles if he has a problem with him dating Fraiser. Niles starts to reply, thinking he said Daphne, then trails off as he realises what TSM said. He gets this funny look on his face, asks TSM to repeat himself then starts smirking. TSM then goes off to speak to fraiser on the balcony and Niles drags Martin into the kitchen where you hear them both in hysterics. It doesn’t sound that funny the way I’ve written it but if you’ve seen it it’s hilarious, mainly becuse of the faces Niles pulls as he realises what’s going on.
The show seemed to specialize in these miscommunication plots, where all the dialog winds up having double meanings. Excellent writing.
(probably irrelevant, but Niles, Martin (I think) and Bulldog are all played by more-or-less uncloseted gays – which must make Frasier the most Out show in TV history.)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure John Mahoney is a friend of Dorothy. (He’s also English if you can believe it.)
Speaking of–does anyone remember the episode where Martin pretends to be gay to dissuade a woman who’s into him (whose daughter Frasier likes), and then ends up having to pretend to be in a gay relationship with Niles? Awesomeness! It was called “Out with Dad.”
Alright. I love Niles, too. Naked. At Nervosa.
But that whole show is just brilliant. How can you just pick one person? Why not three?
Got me a big ol’ smile right now.
Niles is great, but I still think Martin delivered the best line of the entire series:
I was an astronaut.
David Angell was the co-creative, executive producer and writer for Fraiser. He and his wife Lynn were on Flight 11, the one that hit the first World Trade Tower on 9/11.
Daphne & Nile’s baby was named “David” as a tribute.
