Nine Volt Cat

Reading this thread got me to thinking about batteries.

From my youth, I can remember a brand of nine volt batteries–I think it was Energizer, but I’m not at all sure–whose logo was this line art cat with lightning bolt paws jumping through a big 9. I can’t find anything about it on the web, though–no pictures, no confirmation of the brand, nothing.

Does anybody else remember these? Do they still make them? What is the brand? They always caught my eye as a kid, 'cause I thought cats were really neato.

Eveready.

And, in fact, Eveready still uses the logo. On things other than 9 volt batteries. If you look at the link provided, you will notice that the point of the “9” is “9 lives” rather than the logo being on 9 volt batteries.

Thanks, guys!

I have an Eveready battery from 1953 (It has the expiration date on the side) that miraculously hasn’t corroded. It has a cardboard tube sleeve (that you can slide off) bearing the “nine lives” logo. It’s a “C” battery, which is 1.5 volts.

I have a pair of Eveready candles. They’re D-sized, and in their original box. Got it as an ‘extra’ from a seller on eBay years ago.
