"Ninety-nine Miles to L.A."

What artist recorded this song? It was played first in the mid-70s…
The windshield is covered with rain, I’m crying!
Pressing my foot on the gas, I’m flying…
Ninety-nine miles to L.A.
I need you…
I want you…
Please be there…

“99 Miles From L.A.” was on an album of the same name by Albert Hammond–see Peter Hammill to Harlem Jonns Reshuffle for more details. Hammond co-wrote the tune. His single version reached #91 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1975.

Art Garfunkle also recorded the song the same year. The lyrics are posted at artgrafunkel.com – 99 Miles From L.A..

Thanks, Whitetho.
