Nintendo Gamecube production halted

Doesn’t sound like they are too sure if they’ll resume production later this year or just wait and launch a new “product”.

Ahh… they’re probably realizing that it’s time to sap more money from people. I expect them to go back to cartridge games.

www.atariage.com you can get ALL the old atari games here.
REBEL!!!

oh get stella too!

Yee-ouch.

It’s a shame really. Nintendo is probably the only company I have a follow loyally. It seems to have the highest ratio of [good:crap] games than other companies.

The N64 had a few real gems, and I seen a few nice ones for the Gamecube too. Perhaps they’re waiting to develop a Gamecube/DVD-RW/TiVo box? Well, probably not.

Well, I’ve been wanting to play Zelda and Mario on my Playstation. I never thought it would ever happen but this seems to give me hope.

What, nobody saw this coming?

The Gamecube has been viewed as the weakest of the three systems for years. Their games simply don’t appeal to the masses.

Nintendo can have all the Pokemon games they want. I’ll be sticking with the blood and action of my ps2, thanks much.

Zelda: The Wind Waker breaks pre-order sales records

“Nintendo just announced that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker has presold 560,000 copies. It is due in stores March 23. This staggering number flies in the face of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City which only sold 400,000 before its release.”

That preorder hazel-rah, sold so many because the preorder included two games right away & another game later. So…no surprise that it sold.

Hah! Finally! About bloody time it happened to someone else!

Garius
Bitter Dreamcast Owner

Saddening news, even though the Gamecube is the only current-generation console I don’t own. Still, this brings some hope that Nintendo will reinvent itself as a pure software development company, as Sega did- that’s what they’ve been best at, anyway. And the idea of Zelda or Mario on Xbox Live makes me all tingly inside.

Damn it, I knew this was going to happen. I thought of buying an Atari Jaguar and look what happened. I bought a Sega Saturn and look what happened. I bought a Dreamcast and look what happened. I bought a Gamecube and look what happened.

I am the kiss of death for video game companies.

So I guess everyone missed this line in the article:

The GameCube isn’t going anywhere for the forseeable future. Especially after a new Zelda game was announced.

I got my money out of mine. Not that it really even cost that much, considering that games are $50 each.

I did read that, but I wouldn’t bet money on it if I were you.

Let’s revisit this thread in Sept/Oct and see what the situation is.

What can I say. I like to root for the underdog.

And you can never underestimate the appeal of a new Zelda game.

It’s not that big deal of a deal dudes.Production was paused, not halted. This is merely being done to clear out Nintendo’s warehouse of GameCubes. Once this is complete, production will resume. OH, and for comparison sakes, Xbox and GameCube are dead even with 9.5 million units sold each worldwide.

So we shouldn’t worry because they are halting production to clear the warehouse of Gamecubes that couldn’t clear the warehouse.

It’s being blown out of proportion World Eater. Corporations do this all the time with various electronics. This decision by Nintendo will remain invisible to the consumer; it’s not as if Nintendo is canceling all of the great games planned for the next 2 years.

I think that in 20 years whenever there’s a discussion of the best current game systems there will still be bitter Dreamcast owners popping up. Man, that was a great system.

It was a good system, not a great one.
