I’m looking to possible get a Nintendo Switch. My children are almost 5, would they be old enough to get some pleasure out of the system?
I’ve bought every Nintendo console from the NES to the Wii, mainly because I could play Zelda, my gaming machine is the PC. I haven’t been able to rationalize spending > $350 just to play the newest version.
So, can a 5 year old use, and enjoy a Switch? I have 2 children, are there good games they can play together? Is it worth buying if the primary use is streaming (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu) and kindergarten level games?
There are a couple games that they could probably play. Mario Kart has some nice options for auto-acceleration and steering assist that are helpful for little kids. My 4-year-old has fun with it, with those options on. 1-2 Switch has some mini games that little kids can play, and Mario Party is coming out in October.
Also, the joycon controllers are quite small, so they’re pretty easy to handle for little hands.
The only streaming app available right now is Hulu. I think the rumor is that Netflix will be coming soon, but I don’t think anything official has been announced.
