Nintendo Switch

Probably drop it. There’s already a similar third party game that looks like it for the Switch called Fast RMX.

Don’t forget about Metroid Prime 4 being in production as well.

But, yeah, Super Mario Odyssey looks absolutely amazing. And the more they showed it in the Treehouse, the more amazing it looked.

Yeah…

Or do something crazy with the franchise.

But I don’t see much of a future it.

Well they could always do an FZero in like the 2nd-3rd year of the console. If they figure they won’t get a new Mario Kart out anytime soon (I heard that Mario Kart team was the one working on ARMS).

This is my best gaming console. NINTENDO!

Finally picked up my Switch along with Mario+Rabbids last week. I’m absolutely loving it. It’s definitely a simplified version of X-Com, but it’s so much fun.

FYI, the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild emulates pretty well on PC, BPC. And there are tons of mods that make it absolutely hilarious. ’

Now whether it’ll work on a five year old PC, I don’t know. My PC is so old that the GT 1030 was a 10x upgrade.

SMO is out tomorrow and it’s getting great reviews. It’s the first game I’ve ever pre-ordered and I’ve taken Monday off to basically play it all day.

I was hooked on SM 64 when it came out and completed every inch of that game. And I even played SM Sunshine to completion and enjoyed it even though others though it was lacking.
I played Galaxy but never finished it. A cross between it became too difficult and I was bored with it. I never bother with Galaxy 2.
I’m going to pick up Odyssey and I’m hoping it recaptures my interest in the series.

From what I’ve heard, Odyssey is more in the line of 64 and Sunshine, so it sounds like you’re in luck. I’ve loved all the 3D Marios so I’m really looking forward to this.

I can’t afford a new game now… I just hope it isn’t spoiled for me somehow before I can get my hands on it.

Bumping this up as we near the 1 year anniversary. For those who have one, how much are you using it? Pretty much every Nintendo Console I’ve had post-N64 has been bought pretty much just to play the exclusive games. I thought the Switch would be the same way. I was clearly wrong.

Here’s the games I had in the 5-ish years of owning a Wii U:
New Super Mario Bros. U
Mario 3D World
Super Mario Maker
Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros
Mario Party 10
Zelda: BotW (wish I had waiting for the Switch for it)

Here’s what I’ve played in the four months of owning a Switch:
Mario + Rabbids
Super Mario Odyssey
Rocket League
Celeste
Owlboy
Steamworld Dig 2
Steamworld Heist
The Bridge
Toki Tori 2+

We use ours all the time, but we used our Wii U all the time too so I’m probably not representative. I bought a Switch at launch, and the games we have are:

Zelda
Odyssey
1-2 Switch
Lego City
Lego Worlds
Rayman
Mario Kart
Arms
Splatoon 2
Overcooked
Thimbleweed Park
Thumper
Picross S
Golf Story
Snipperclips
Jackbox 3

Like I said, I was happy with the library on the Wii U, but the Switch is obviously on another level. I have a list of something like 30 games I’d buy if I had the time to play them.

How’s Toki Tori2+?

I played the first and remember kinda liking it.

It is in constant use since we bought it last July. A truly great piece of kit.

The main games we’ve played have been

BOTW - possibly the most satisfying game I’ve played in my near 40 years of gaming.
Splatoon 2 - excellent
Mario Odyssey - haven’t played it yet but the kids have and loved it
Mario+Rabbids kingdom battle - my current game and really enjoying it
Arms - Meh, not my thing
1-2 Switch - one for the kids
Rocket League - nicely done but bloody hell it is hard.
The day we found Earth - cheap cheerful and cute
King oddball - pick up and play casual gaming
Snake pass - Good but not great.
Snipperclips - really good fun
Death squared - great for 4 players.

It is a doddle to just pick up and find something to immerse yourself in or just pass a bit of time. The system and games boot pretty much instantly and when I look at the current catalogue plus all the upcoming releases I think there is enough there to keep me going for the next decade.
The graphics are fine, as good as I’ll ever need, I really don’t give two hoots about 4k graphics because gameplay is everything.
What I’d really like is to see remasters of some old classics imagine Portal and Portal 2 on the switch? count me in.

Really fun. It’s sort of an open world 2D puzzle platformer, in that you can really go anywhere from the start, as long as you can figure it out. It’s a fairly short game (I already beat it) but there’s a lot of extras to explore and unlock. It’s on sale right now so it’s a good time to pick it up.

Why thanks!

I have to get Celeste first tough, I hear it’s amazing.

I go a couple of months without touching my Switch, and then a new game comes out, and then I have it by my side nonstop for a couple of months playing both that and all the other great games I forgot about. I’ve had it since release, and the “on” months have already made the purchase more than worth it. I’ve played about as much Switch as I have PS4, and I’ve also had that since release. The mobile gaming piece of it is just too perfect.

In relative order of preference:

**Celeste **- a great argument for doing something relatively simple, but doing it perfectly
Has Been Heroes - LOVE this and have probably spent the most time on it, but I think it appeals to a pretty narrow target audience, so I wouldn’t recommend it unreservedly
Golf Story - this, on the other hand, I would recommend to pretty much anyone
Mario Odyssey - favorite 3D Mario game since 64
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - not as good as the first one, too much grinding, but good enough that I pushed through and finished the story
Mario Kart - hadn’t played it on the Wii U. Enjoyed it here. It’s a Mario Kart game.
Steamworld Dig 2 - hadn’t played this yet, quite like it
**Zelda **- it’s interesting looking back in this thread and seeing how much I loved it at the start. I kind of wish I had stopped playing earlier than I did: the more I played, the more I soured on it. It’s the best I’ve ever seen at a bunch of things that boil down to “creating a giant open world that has a lot of interesting stuff in it, and that you can interact with in any way you can think of”. Unfortunately, it is below-average or worse at combat, and the consumable-everything really doesn’t work for me psychologically. I just think I’m a simple person who would have had a lot more fun with this if it had a dozen proper dungeons and a sword that doesn’t break.

When I have the time, I’m looking forward to Mario + Rabbids, Romancing SaGa 2, and replaying Darkest Dungeon (which I played on PC, but with none of the DLC).

I completely forgot I also played Golf Story. Yes, I highly recommend that to everyone as well.

Got Celeste. What an amazing game!
