So NJ and Utah have a free App called Docket to track and display your Vacc Record.
It was pretty easy to install and verify.
People should probably check if their state is offering the same. This means you won’t need to carry the card.

New York has the Excelsior Pass. It works fine. It will display your vaccination record and (for three days) your latest COVID test result, assuming you’ve gotten the test somewhere that reports results to New York State. I get tested weekly, at one of New York City’s excellent, free and fast testing sites, and the Excelsior Pass app can download and display the result.
Much better than the cards, which are nice, but as proof of anything, they’re a joke.
When I searched for a similar app in Pennsylvania, I found this article saying NJ wasn’t planning to have an app. I’ll continue searching.
Well, the NJ one at least is up and running. 100% verified by me. I got the Email on it today and installed it less than an hour ago.
I’m curious how many states have apps. 3 so far.
If folks can get the Excelsior Pass to work. I had my shots at Walgreens and I can’t access the pass.
Guess I’m stuck with the card.
I have yet to have anyone ask for proof, but I just have a photo of the card on my phone. Seems like it’s as good as the physical card and doesn’t require anything special.
Both UK NHS and the French government have apps that use QR codes to hold all the relevant info (and I assume the EU’s common pass will do likewise).
Sorry to hear it. I had mine at Duane Reade/Walgreens, and it works fine for me.
I’d guess that someone where you got the vaccine didn’t follow up about reporting, but I have no idea how to fix that. Maybe a talk with the pharmacist where you got the shot(s)? They must have a record.
^^Possibly. I have to go there tomorrow to pick up a prescription, so I will ask.
It’s fine as I have the card in my wallet, and a photo of it on my phone. But the pass would be nice.
Thanks.
The Chinese governments (large cities and provinces) have such apps also. I’m in Beijing and use Beijing Health Kit as required. I’ve had no problems with it nor have I heard any bad experiences from friends here.
I went to Office Depot and got a laminated copy of my vaccine card. It’s also smaller than the original, so it’s much easier to carry in a billfold.
I haven’t found that any other states have an app yet.
I did see some discussion the Docket App will grow to cover all vaccinations eventually and could be used for vacc records for schools.
That’s a good idea, although it will undoubtedly fuel the paranoia of those who are convinced that the government/aliens/the Illuminati/whoever are really running the world and really we live in the Matrix.
Here in NY, the procedure for demonstrating that one’s child is up-to-date on vaccinations isn’t that onerous – there’s just a form to be filled out and signed by the child’s pediatrician – but it is easy to abuse. I mean, I could get that form and fill it out.
An app that draws its information directly from the state, which in turn gets information directly from doctors, is better. Not impossible to fake, of course, but better.
Not an App, but cook county sent me an URL and a QR code (that goes to the same URL).
It brings up a webpage with my vaccination record and you can see that its hosted from the cookcounty website.
Similar in California, as has been discussed elsewhere.
Specifically in this post: The question at hand was how people without smart-phones could prove their vax status. In California at least, there is a web site you can visit. You can get a certificate with a big QR code, and you can print it.
I’m in NJ (exit 139b, since you ask) and my doctor is using an app called Clear to provide vaccine verification. I’ll try to get Docket working, too.
ETA: It works!
I had problems with mine - I am a state employee and was vaccinated at work. After a lot of problems and back and forth with three state agencies ( my agency, the Dept of Health and the Dept of information Technology) it turned out that when my agency reported my vaccinations, they left out my address. I found an email for an immunization registry somewhere on the DOH website, but since they initially were referring me back to my agency and ITS , it will probably be easiest if you go back to Walgreens and make sure they sent all the information to DOH
^^Thanks.
