NME: GnR deliver "Chinese Democracy" to label

It’s a cold day in hell:

The article’s dated today, not last Tuesday, so maybe there’s something to this. Maybe we’ll actually get that free Dr Pepper.

A shame if it’s true. The story of making this album has been funny and it’ll be hard for the finished product to live down to expectations.

The last time I checked Wikipedia about this album, though, they made it sound like the rights could be pretty complicated.

I’ll believe it when I see it on sale somewhere. This album has become a modern day white whale. It may exist but until I see some proof, I’m going to put it in the same category as Bigfoot.

There’s been leaks of supposed tracks that I’ve heard, and if those were real then it’s not too bad, but c’mon we’re talking about Axl Rose here. He’ll find a way to sabotage it somehow. Money and rights issues might just boil down to the next reason we’ll never see this album. If Axl had any mind left he should just throw the tracks out for free online and start work on a new album.

I’ve heard plenty of leaks, it’s very good but not great.

I don’t see the point in ever releasing it- it would have to be better than Appetite for it to live up to 15 years of hype. The lingering mystery of it is better than the actual prodcut, I’m sure.

On thing to bear in mind is that it’s really an Axl Rose solo album, not a G&R album, no matter what he calls his band. I’m curious to hear it. It might still be good. But I’ll never think of it as a real Guns 'N Roses album.

I’ve been hearing about the supposed Metallica/Rick Rubin project for a couple years, now.

When the hell is that coming out?

Also, my expectations of Chinese Democracy are so low that it HAS to live up to my personal hype. I can’t imagine how it could be a consistent, good sounding album. If it is, I’ll be very happy.

It’s proving as elusive as its title suggests.

I thought that was an intentional joke; i.e. you’ll see a new album from GnR right around the time we see _________.

A lot of people thought that Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2 would never come out, but they did.

Still, after 13 or 14 years, Chinese Democracy is in Duke Nukem Forever territory.

Supposedly by this coming fall if what Wiki has is correct, and it looks pretty well supported.

Pretty soon, Harlan Ellison will actually publish The Last Dangerous Visions.

White whale found.

Didn’t Rick Rubin produce Saint Anger?

Or, as I’ve referred to it, the shameful implosion of Metallica album?

No, that was Bob Rock. He also played bass on it.

My friends Rev. Peyton and Washboard Breezy heard an early version of “Chinese Democracy” when the partied at the club above the Roxy, and Axl Rose dropped by with a copy. They were of the opinion that it “sucked”. But it may simply not have been to their taste.

Suck or no suck, as everyone knows, this isn’t really G’n’R anymore.

Anyway, I’m pretty confident ChiDem WILL eventually be released. Axl needs the botox money!

This seems a classic case of news sites just reporting what other sites have said. The NME is quoting www.therockradio.com which is getting info from AllYourTV.com. When I looked at about 20 other sites they all were just getting info from NME. They all go back to this article
