If youre using the latest browsers youll notice at the top of the screen where the advertisement usually goes, i have replaced it. (some peeps may not be able to view it, o well) It started out that i just wanted to see if i could do it. Then i was like hmmm i wonder if this would qualify as a debate, like would it make peeps mad? So i figured i would find out. So, tell me what you think. I guess ill make an argument: the guy paying for the advertisment has that ad on every board, every topic, post, whatever. So, what do yall think? By the way, anyone who can do it, bring the advertisement back! its a challenge, this is pretty cool! (it can be done, you just have to know how to do it).</font>

Worm(NO glow!), when you looked at the copyright notice and trademark, did you see YOUR name anywhere? If this board isn’t sponsered, it isn’t paid for. If it isn’t paid for, it will go away. How would you like it if a guest at your home redecorated your bedroom to their tastes without your permission?
My point is, it’s NOT awesome. It’s very simple and not at all impressive. And you’re going to get thrown off the board if you continue screwing around with the ads. Not to mention 4000 people are going to be really pissed at you.
whether or not its impressive is relative, it impressed me. and it doesnt matter how simple it is, the point is it worked. the simplest way would be the most obvious way to do it. anyway, they can shut me down, its obvious the things i want to debate are too much for some people (i guess).

Actually, I believe gl0worm has done a valuable service. He has pointed out the pitfalls of allowing DIV layers in accepted HTML code.
I have several web sites, some with message boards and guestbooks, and will now adjust the perl script to remove DIV layers.
So, in that sense, thanks to gl0worm.
However, I like SDMB so I think gl0worm is a prick for screwing with it.
Listen, Glow, if you want to debate the propriety of changing someone else’s server without their permission, that’s fine - and a legitimate subject to discuss.
But if you do it… that’s another. It’s no longer a debate; you’ve effectively forestalled debate and chosen unilateral action.
It is no trick, by the way, to use the style key code with position set for absolute top left, black background, and manually defined width and height. I am willing to bet that’s what you did, without even looking at the HTML.
that may be true slythe, but i had fun doing it and believe me throwing a rock through someones window is a little worse than this (has anyone ever actually clicked that advertisment?) thats why i chose the ad, because i do care about other things than myself. but u see, not one post here is nice or friendly, i started the post being friendly, or at least not mean to anyone. my point is, all i ever see here is people getting mad! even though of the little nothing that i did to that ad, you’ll probably hate me for the rest of your life! doesnt that show you that maybe you should have a little more fun in your life? that you could so easily hate me? you call me a thug but im happy, you think youre civilized but i dont think youre happy.
