I think Giraffe nailed the reason upthread. If such is the case it’s pretty clear why the staff won’t discuss this at present.
It’s not clear to me.
I believe Giraffe thinks they have a second account that is an admin account.
I work on network computers. I have a regular old account, named, say “plant” that I use most of the time. If I need to do something administrative, I log on with my “plant.admin” account.
I’m not suggesting that they tell us the actual name of the phantom admin account, obviously. What harm is there is revealing that one exists? Anyone savvy enough to make use of that information wouldn’t need to be told that information anyway.
I have no idea if this is or isn’t the case, I just said I thought it would be a good idea. I also speculated that admin access was removed from everyone but Jerry as a security measure, but I don’t actually know anything. In any case, I have no idea why the staff all appear to be forbidden from discussing the change in their usergroup and/or admin status. That makes no sense to me. No one is suing the SDMB because some hacker stole their password.
I also have to wonder about the crack legal team that is advising them.

How are you expecting a returning user or new user to know who they should contact for admin-related help?

Well, she was.
She posts very very infrequently now.
I interpret it more like, “I thought you were to nice a guy to rag us about this.”
But then, I’m often wrong as most 'Dopers know.
I thought the same thing, especially since I didn’t get the same admonishment.
Anybody who thinks I’m too nice a guy to rag them over something like this has obviously not been paying attention the last 10 years or so.
But I respect samclem, and when he asked that I let it slide, I let it slide.
It wasn’t a threat. I don’t do that unless someone threatens me/SDMB first. Didn’t happen in this case.
And, yes, new registrants/returnees might have trouble finding an Admin. I provided a list of them to help.
