As a lurker who just recently registered to post, I’m kind of amazed that there seem to be relatively few posts on abortion. Abortion is posibly the hottest issue in the country today, but there isn’t much dicussion in Great Debates. Did people just get tired of arguing about it or what?
Do you ever get the feeling that everybody thinks you’re paranoid?
abortion debates tend to go like this:
ProLife: It’s a human! You’re commiting murder!
ProChoice: It’s a fetus! It’s my body!
Nothing really new or exciting ever comes out of them.
It’s one of those issues on which it’s just about impossible to change anybody’s mind, and I think both sides just get tired of repeating themselves.
I’m not sure it’s the “hottest” issue for most people politically, if you mean that in the sense of the issue most important to them. Right this minute, for instance, I think gun control is on more people’s minds.
