A couple hundred folks at Highland Park NJ. Not too bad for a rainy day. https://www.facebook.com/share/19MAKW3rSM/

Our local event went smoothly, with mostly support from folks driving by. An occasional “go back home” to the young Hispanic attendees. One truck flying trump flags. I’m glad we went.
It was absolutely packed at our event - town of 5,000 or so. The old courthouse lawn was full and there were people lining the main street with their signs. We were happy to see a number of young people there.
I went to the rally in our small town, intending to join, but could find no parking within six blocks or so. So I drove past three times and gave everyone two thumbs up and honked and cheered.
My town’s population is about 37,000, and I think there must have been 500 people at the main intersection of the town. And this was at five minutes after the scheduled start time. As I drove away, I saw many more folks streaming towards the intersection.
Big turnout in Reno; no official estimate yet but I’ll guess 5,000 lining the street plus hundreds of drive-by’s, waving and honking. One flip-off.
Virtually no LEO presence. A couple of vehicles cruised by, but no boots on the ground.
A semi drove-by covered with the logo of the local Teamsters union, honking and waving. Could this mean that Trump has lost the Teamsters…?
Several thousand at least at our Colorado Springs rally. Spread out over a mile or two, sides of roads and medians all packed in as you got to the center. 70-80+% of the people driving by were actively waving flags signs in support or honking and waving happily, probably no more than 2-3 Trumpy’s driving along to disrupt things.
Much more unified, and far less counter support than my prior protest in April. Crowd was noticeably younger as well!
The organizers did a good job of helping keep everyone out of the crosswalks when it wasn’t appropriate, and helping keep the people moving, rather than bunching up. I will say local Police presence wasn’t heavy, but all of them looked neutral at best, and several actively disapproving. Which is about what I expect out of this deeply conservative town.
I’m in fairly red south Orange County, CA. My little bedroom community is useless so I went a few cities over, where my Democratic chapter is. We were on a main drag at the intersection where the shopping / entertainment center is. The best part - a large portion of one of the parking lots was designated for protestors. Right next to a Tesla dealership. Very little negative response, as far as I could tell. The Sheriffs were there but really stayed in the background. By the time I left, I couldn’t even see where the line of protestors ended. What I didn’t see is the presence of the third rate, conservative Orange County Register.
Early this morning, I walked by the US embassy in Ottawa and was passed by a woman with an anti-ICE sign, sorta rolled up. I don’t know if there was a gathering there later in the day or not.
Just back from a Huge rally and march in Cincinnati. TV news was there and I am anxious to see it on the nightly news
I love reading these reports. I had intended to go to the combined No King/Pride parade in Boston (“No King, Yaaasss Queen”) to cheer them on, but then two days ago I thought to ask my old company (that I retired from five years ago) if they were marching in it, and they were, and I asked if I could march with them, and they said they’d be delighted to have me, so I saw the parade from the inside and waved a flag and handed out a bunch of pride flags and pride sunglasses, and the positive energy was fantastic. People really can be lovely.
Phila was huge.
Things are quiet now. Great speakers, really fun word play on the signs, cute dogs.
I go to my local rally weekly. It’s at a 4-way intersection. Usually, we fill two sides, maybe a little around two of the corners. Not thin, but plenty of elbow room. I showed up 10 minutes early and all four corners and streets were full. The normal people who are there every week had a dizzied, frenzied expression in their eyes. And it wasn’t even “the big one” in the area. That was just a “stand and hold signs” rally. They were having a march a few miles away that I couldn’t attend and the larger one in Boston proper.
The most honking I’ve heard at one, fist pumping, etc. There was chanting today, and normally we’re pretty quiet. The only asshole was the one guy who kept walking through, shaking his head and saying we all have mental illnesses while he himself was starting shit while wearing a Trumpy shirt.
I don’t know if these people will all show up next weekend or if it was a one-off thing. I hope even 10% of them do.
All the accounts I’m seeing say that today’s turnout outdoes the April 5 “Hands Off” protests by huge numbers. A lot of people are talking about the “3.5% Rule”—the research that shows that in modern history, when at least 3.5% of a nation’s populations gets out and protests, the dictator of that nation gets overthrown.
Obviously for us the intervening step would have to be Republicans starting to fear for their own fortunes-----but if the numbers of those opposing Trump impress them enough, they might start to feel that fear.
All protests seem to have remained peaceful despite the horrible news about the right-wing nut assassinating Minnesota lawmakers. The article linked below gives an overview of several protests, though doesn’t attempt to sum up today’s numbers:
I’m in a smallish southern town/city in a very Red area. We had an amazing turnout and the response from the cars on the road was really encouraging. Last estimate I heard was that they were expecting maybe a couple of hundred attendees and actually got 1200 to 1500!
The only police presence was for traffic control, and there was a tiny contingent of Trumpers on the opposite corner - 15 people, maybe?
Really good for my soul to know that I am not alone!
I went to the one in Folsom and it was good fun. There was a festival feeling and great signs to read. We had a good deal of support from the people driving by and only a few middle fingers. One troll in his loud truck blowing fumes at us. I wonder if these dopes realize how childish they are.
I almost talked myself out of going, but I’m very glad I went.
Side note: There were some drones up above us and man, do they spook me.
Just returned from the rally in Olympia, WA, the state capital. They expected 5,000, but it looked like more to me. Maybe 7,000? My favorite sign was on a golden retriever: “I could shit a better president than Trump.” Runner-up: young guy in a long, white wig and beard and dressed in Biblical robes and a yarmulke: “Resisting dictators since pharaoh.” Best costume: woman dressed as the Statue of Liberty with fake knives “in” her back. Each knife was labeled, “Trump,” “Miller,” “Vance,” etc.
Most obscure sign I saw: “They may want Germany 1933 but they’ll get France 1832”.
There was an extended sidewalk rally two blocks from our house, we joined in. It was very positive - lots of cheering, American flags, and supportive honking from drivers passing by.
