Here’s the past thread from the most recent October 2025 No Kings Day:
The October one was a whopper:
Organizers of the protests estimated that the protests drew nearly 7 million attendees,[20][21] while a partnership between data journalist G. Elliott Morris and the Xylom, an independent Atlanta-based science newsroom, estimated 5 million to 6.5 million participants. Either estimate would make this one of the largest single-day protests in American history.[22]
Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.
…
For the USA right now, that would be 11.5 to 12 million people. October’s numbers were more than halfway there.
What’s happening re next Saturday in your area? Do you have plans to participate?
ISTM that things are MUCH worse than they were in October. Trump has crossed many more lines, committed many more outrageous and illegal acts, and offended/insulted many more people, friends and enemies, foreign and domestic, than he had done by the last No Kings Day.
Surely that will bring more people out into the street than last time. Five million more, I hope.
I disagree with much that he does, but have to admit it, the world is a much safer place when Iran does not have nukes and ballistic missiles. Much safer, more peaceful, more stable. And these are good things.
The organizers are having a group close to my neighborhood. It’s in front of a suburban high school by a street so there willl be a lot of people and I’ll be there too!
That’s not the primary point of rallies and demonstrations, which is to show the rest of society, including individuals who actively support the cause, those on the fence, and those opposed, as well as pillars such as businesses, churches, schools, and other civic organizations, that the lawless actions of the Trump regime are not going unnoticed and unopposed.
The rallies draw more people into the movement and demonstrate that the regime is unpopular and that its power is not unassailable or inevitable. They give courage to people who may have been reluctant to stand up, including those at the top of organizations like universities, religious organizations, and corporations whose influence can further weaken the regime.
Nobody thinks Trump is going to look at the crowds on March 28 and say, “I’ve been wrong all along,” or resign. But if more congressmen, CEOs, bishops, governors, and mayors drop their support for him, he will be weakened. And with luck, if the mid-term elections are free and fair (the other big fight we have to win) he will be a lame duck this time next year.
Mmy wife and I are going to both a local rally on the North Shore of Boston in the morning (that our group helped organize) , then to the big one in Boston, so that we get counted twice.
Building up the resistance weakens him, reduces his power and effectiveness, and could conceivably lead to removing him from office. It also makes his sycophants and allies think twice about supporting him and the possible consequences for them after he’s gone (by whatever means).
And yes, it annoys him, if his handlers let him find out about it.
Here in Georgia’s reddest district, we’ll be in front of the courthouse in our county seat. There was a good turnout in October and we might have a big crowd. I lead the call, THANKS! WE LOVE YOU!, and wave ecstatically at people who yell mean things as they drive past.
Sign ups for events are at https://www.nokings.org/ I’ll be at my local one, in a Northern VA suburb of DC. We had 400 people for No Kings 1, 800 for NKD2, and are hoping for 1,000 for NKD3. There are other events all over Northern VA.
My city’s No Kings rally will be about 2 blocks from my house. During the last No Kings, I drove past the crowd, who all looked friendly and decent. Alas, I was on my way to another event, but I so hoped to join them afterward, but the No Kings rally was over by the time I got back.
This time I am prepared. I have a “Keep Marching” sash that I bought when I saw Suffs (the musical). I will join. I hope it is as friendly and decent as the other one looked.
OK. I have actually officially signed up and only hope this won’t land me on too many email lists demanding money that I haven’t got.
And I have to think what to write on my chalkboard. For the first one I wrote No Kings, George Washington Knew That and for the second left that on one side and put on the other (right after Trump or somebody had made noises about protestors hating America) We Are America — And You Are Too.
I haven’t finalized the design of my sign, but I’m leaning towards the text: “Fump Truck” over a grey-scaled clip of him sitting in that dump truck in Wisconsin. I would display the “F” in Fump and the “uck” in Truck in dark blue, and the other letters in dark orange.
How about some reports from the field today as some of you take to the streets to save this country before it disappears into the swamp created by donald trump.
Also, if anyone comes across links to live coverage of demonstrations around the country, please share.
Pleasepleaseplease let’s have 20 million people out in the streets today pleasepleasplease…
