No Lo Contendre - MMP

Aw crap. Count me in as the jealous ones. I wanna visit Europe too. Next time you go, I get to go, right? I’m well-trained and I’m good company!

That was my sister’s nickname when she sang with Sweet Adelines!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
that’s very funny!!!

I have a friend who calls it fake time. I was talking to her last night and she kept referencing time an hour off of my references.
And you must post a pic of Chocolat Pants

Ah, you didn’t know I had dibs because you weren’t around much last week. - You may have next week.

They are MsRobyn, Airman, ryobserver, Doc Cathode, me, cleophus, and on the floor is twickster

Hence, the reason I went back to sleep for a few hours after I posted
btw - this is me and roomie right after we finisehd singing Saturday afternoon.

So my 3 o’clock thing from last week didn’t go like I wanted. Don’t want to go into it beyond that. A few tears from me, but I soldier on.

Susan

Aw, damn susan. I’m sorry to hear it. You know we’re here, even to vent to.

Take care.

Drae, good luck with the next ultrasound.

I need to finish lunch and get back to work. Problem is, I don’t FEEL like working. I’m just in a “bleah” kind of funk, and it’s kind of hard to make myself snap out of it today. I’m sure I’ll be fine…

I’m feeling that way today, too. I think it’s the weather and the time change. Stoopid DST. Hate it.

I decided I’m going to look around online to see if there are any community theater auditions going on around me anytime soon. I need to get out of the house more. le sigh

I’m pretty sure the instructor won’t give up until the bank account does. My problem is getting welbywife to give up. She’s just too dang persistent!

Another victim of the bleah funkies here.

I’ve forgotten what blue sky looks like - it’s been raining for pretty much one solid month here. Today’s incessant racket of jackhammers nearby hasn’t helped my mood any. I’m told they’re working on the generator building, which is a concrete cube full of big machines. And a lot of noise.

The downstairs bathroom is getting closer to done. I got the floor in and wainscot (just a highfalutin’ name for half-wall wood paneling!) up. The original Motel 6-style sink/countertop/vanity/cabinet had been glued, yes, GLUED! to three of the four walls, so there was significant damage done to the walls in removal. The 3-foot high paneling is a quickie cover-up and saved me from having to replace all the sheetrock. Just need to cut the moldings, put the toilet back and install the new sink.

And, I learned from Trading Spaces, it is not pronounced the way one would think.

Rigs? Jealous. Jealous jealous jealous.

Jealous.

VunderBob wins the Honorary Punster of the Week award. And Kyth, that’s what you get for not paying attention. Tsk tsk. My electromagnetic theory test was, by comparison to the first one, mindblowingly easy. There were three questions. One of them was from one of the homework sets, another was a problem we did in class, and the third was an example from the book. And none of them were complicated either. I made one mistake that I know of – in accordance with my usual quest to overthink every physics problem on the face of the Earth – but it shouldn’t be more than a couple of points off.

I don’t wanna go back to work tomorrow.

Tell me, when is the time that I get to pester the college re my grad school app? It was due (and turned in) on 3/1/06. What say I give them another week and then ask nicely? I dont’ have any idea how to do this bit–help!
If I get into grad school, then I’ll stay at my horrible job for the duration. If I don’t get into grad school, I must look for another job right away. Sadly, it would be in nursing and I need to get away from nursing–too long to go into, suffice it to say that while I can hold it together at work, I am burnt to a crisp, even PT.
Yucky day here as well–cold and rainly (is so a word). I am just grouchy because of impending work on the morrow.

Miss London and all the nice British people. Durr. Why can’t I have another life all together? What say we all create excellent fantasy lives?
Hmm. That might be a thread that doesn’t die on the vine. I’ll think about it.

You mean we weren’t supposed to already have one?

No fair if you got a head start…

Well, I started about twenty-five years ago … you could even call it a vocation.

And alas, no nearby amateur theaters are doing auditions any time soon. There’s one place in Hackensack, but they want head shots and resumes, which definitely means they’re not for me.

I survived my weekend, although I slept on the recliner yet again last night. I didn’t want to keep FCD awake with my hacking, and I discovered that I hacked less if I was more upright. I tried a pile of pillows in bed, but it just wasn’t the same. So I tossed an old sheet over the recliner, grabbed an afghan, and slept some. But morning still came way too fast. However, I did go to work and managed to get thru the day without falling asleep at my desk.

After lunch, I took my walk, and it was just slightly too long. I was totally exhausted when I got back to my desk - and I only walked about 30 minutes. Guess I’m not completely over the sickies. I ran to the store after work and got, among other things, some lozenges and some generic NyQuil. I think I’ll plan to crash around 8 tonight and see how it goes. I need to sleep because I’ve got a 4-hour training class tomorrow, and those things are brutal when you’re tired.

Bernie is on the Bad Dog List today. I came home to find the frame of the cat door torn out. That tells me she saw something outside the dining room patio door and decided she had to go to the basement to get it. And the door was closed, so she pulled at the cat door opening till she forced the big door open, messing up the cat door in the process. Again. This would be the third time. I’m thinking I need to put up a curtain to cover the bottom half of the patio door so stupid can’t see out.

And for random comments on the rest of the thread -

rose - bummer about the competition but way cool about meeting some dopers - I know for sure I met 3 of your dining companions myself.

Puggy - our plans may have shifted again - we may be going to Orlando first, then to Ocala, so it’s a good thing you’re busy too - we’d never get it figured out!

Rigs - way cool vacation - like everyone else here, I’m jealous!

welby - so, do you shake your groove thang in dance class?

everyone else - Happy Monday! Welcome back from the weekend! No hugs from me, tho, because I’m still coughing and I don’t wanna infect anyone. Especially that old geezer swampy, because you know when them old guys get sick, they take forever to get better, and they whine and complain the whole time.

Or perhaps an avocation. I am spending most of my time in Schraft’s drugstore, sitting at the fountain counter…

FCD -push fluids and get plenty of rest. Hope you feel better soon.

Rifty -if there had been room in my suitcase, I would have stopped by RPI and taken you with, I promise.

I did miss all of you–I would see something and think, oh, the Cool Kids would love that…If I get pics uploaded, I’ll share.

I would love to see the pics Rigs. I’m glad you’re back and that you (mostly) enjoyed your trip. We missed you.

My son seems to be coming down with something. He had a horrible headache yesterday and had a very deep cough. I gave him something for the headache, but it didn’t help him much.

I called him about an hour ago (both the kids are on spring break) to see how he was doing and he told me his head was hurting. He isn’t stuffed up or anything. I’m a little concerned about the headache thing. He doesn’t usually get those and he’s only 13. I plan to call him again in about an hour to see how he’s doing.

Still got the blahs. The day is dreary and gray and it’s raining a little bit.

I’m glad you were able to get back to work FCM and I hope that you feel even better tomorrow. It really, really sucks to be sick.

Back to work.

I just got the following message from my brother:

On Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.

That won’t ever happen again.

He suggested I stay up for it. I told him I’d Tivo it.

I’m totally staying up for that. I’m such a dork. Of course I’d probably be up anyway. Ah, college life.

My college life wasn’t like that. Then again, I was older when I went, and I never was a night person. I think I did a single all-nighter the whole time, and that was because in the olden days, you had to sign up to get a computer terminal to do your projects, and my team got our terminal in the wee small hours. And this was using punch cards.

Um, what was this about?? Oh yeah - geeking out.

It’s gotta be the chocolate defiency affecting my brain.

technically, it will happen several times - once for each time zone. And it will happen again 1000 years from now, and 1000 years after that. and so on and so on and so on and so on…
but it must be considered a significant event, as I received 3 separate original emails on the subject and several forwards of each of those. It’s so nice of my friends to take on the responsibility of keeping me informed of advances in minutia
