Yeah, I don’t think she’s a feminist at all. Because basically you’ve got 90% of all the women on Earth, or 97%, or whatever the exact number is–all the women who are not lesbian or asexual*–who are either getting a bit of the old P.I.V. on a regular basis and like it, but also including all those woman who aren’t getting any of the old P.I.V. because they’re going through a bit of a dry spell this week/month/year/ever since they were marooned on that desert island after the plane crash back in 1982, but who nonetheless would in theory fancy a bit of the old P.I.V. (With the right guy, of course. Although the heterosexual woman who’s been marooned on a desert island since 1982 probably isn’t feeling too picky by now.)
*Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
And this whackjob is basically telling all of them–the Vast Majority of Women on Earth–that, no, they’re not really grown-up self-actualized empowered adults who are capable of making their own decisions about their lives and all. Nope, y’all are all just a bunch of helplessly brainwashed mindless slaves of the P.I.V.-pushing patriarchy! You all might as well be living on Gor!
Really, we shouldn’t even let y’all vote, should we?
And that patronizing attitude is why I want nothing to do with modern feminism. Equality I’m on board with, to be certain. Some smug harpy shrieking at me about how I’m a helplessly brainwashed victim and every male in the world is a horrible abuser and if I don’t agree with this, I’m just too dumb and brainwashed to realize reality is IMO every bit as degrading as any alleged misogyny around.
I agree, except what about things we do pretty much the same thing about, like, say, women being required to wear burqas and being A-OK with that, or supporting forced FGM? Don’t we think they’ve been brainwashed into accepting poor treatment? I know I do…
Ok, I feel bad for all the women who’ve been brainwashed into being raped and claiming to like it. But what about me? I’ve been brainwashed into being a rapist and thinking women like it!
It’s “feminist” in the sense the Westboro Baptist Church (Fred Phelps Cult) is “christian” – by self-identification and claiming the mantle of being the “true faith” while everyone else are fakers, appeasers and compromisers.
What they look more like is a sort of “female supremacist” group, and one particularly enamored of mythological woo, at that. (And who end up lending ammunition to the pathetic MRAs). One doesn’t want to play unlicensed analyst but the temptation is strong to say, well, looks like someone DID have some sort of “bonding trauma” along the way.
I wonder the same thing
because their version is that we are the brainwashed ones, forced to parade our bodies around and compete for men.
One hundred years from now will what the RadFems are saying now be considered normal?
Anyway for me sex is as natural as eating, breathing and sleeping. I resent being told that I have been brainwashed because I enjoy it.
This is why I feel like we can’t go by people’s evangelizing, no matter what it’s about, and really need to just judge the message for the message itself. Her message is wrong. Since she believes it is right, I don’t blame her for trying to spread it. I don’t blame Evangelical Christians for trying to spread their message either; in their worldview, of course they have to. I think their message is reprehensible, but anyone who actually believes it will feel compelled to share it.
If she truly believes these things, I think she’s very emotionally disturbed. She’s probably been raped or assaulted, probably either a lesbian or asexual too.
I knew some people like this in college and they scared me. There are a lot of people claiming to be radical feminists who indeed are not trying to make the world better for women. They are trying to make the world better for lesbians.
Which is fine, but be honest about your agenda. There’s a lot of hatred against straight women in their rhetoric.
