No more Arrested Development

Tim Goodman, television columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, is reporting today that Arrested Development will not move to Showtime and, in his words, “The Bluths are out of business.”

Oddly, I am kind of relieved. That finale was damn near perfect. Better to leave on top.

Yeah, I feel the same. The ending was pitch perfect. A restart might have been good, or may have just been horrendous. There is always the chance that the insecurity that surrounded the final seasons fueled some of the manic genius in seasons two and three.

I’ll take the series as is and be happy it was on top of its game when it closed.
Let Michael enjoy his lovely home by the beach

I’ll be buying the box set as soon as it’s available. Arrested Development was, for me, more laugh out loud funny than anything else on televsion in a while.

Me too. I didn’t start watching until into season two, and I know I missed a lot even in the episodes I saw.

Apparently that will be available June 13

It’s sad, but I hope the creators, perhaps using some of the same cast, will be able to put together another show of comparable quality in the near future.

That’s a shame. But it’s true that they kinda wrapped everything up in those excellent last episodes.

Count me in as one more relieved person. The end was spot-on perfect, and the show went out on top, like a champ, with 2 1/2 great seasons to its credit.

I would love to see Hurwitz and some of the writers and cast members work together again on a new show, but let’s leave the Bluths and Funkes as we fondly remember them.

Though I am pleased the show went out high, I am kind of blue that it is gone.

I think I need an analrapist to him me get over it.

I’m a bit let down.

It ended well, but I think they could have brought it back for 6 episode seasons, like Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Him?

I agree with almost everything people have said already. Like The Office (UK), they ended things on a high note, and managed to make three of the most perfect seasons of television ever (and that includes the Martin Short episode-- for every time Uncle Jack threw up, Tobias came on to Michael. So to speak). What a gem.

I have no idea what you mean.

He’s really funny.
