I suspect you have been misled. Irish pipes sound distinctly different from Scottish pipes. Seems obvious to me that the Scots captured a set of Irish pipes, puzzled over them for a while, then at last figured out how to turn them into a deadly weapon. You see, Erin is a pleasant, snakeless land with hounds and sheep frolicking across green, rolling hills whilst Scotland is a rocky, severe place inhabited by pre-cambrian monsters and Picts gnawing on bundles of offal, their pipes should reflect their disparate heritages.

This pitting is about 3 years too late. When I was looking for a bugle for my son to play in Boy Scouts, it was already contraversial that they were putting a playback device in trumpets that simulated the playing of Taps.
Oh and it took my son about a month to get Taps down really well. Like he could play at funerals.
And that’s another thing. It is true the US has allowed so many soldiers to die that has not been able to properly burry them for a number of years. That is shocking, but add to that the few volunteer groups to provide color guards. My (US) local American Legion post does not have one. When my dad died we gave them a nice check to help them get their stuff together.

FWIW, there’s at least one organization trying to take up the slack. Bugles Across America has been around since 2000, so this is by no means a new phenomenon. I suspect there are other similar organizations elsewhere in the US.
I am not affiliated with the above organization in any way, other than knowing a couple of members. It is nice to see some people jumping in to provide a bit of the “human touch,” though.

The connection between Romney and the soldiers who have died in America’s service was, I admit weak. He after all has never missed lunch to serve others and under his “Objectivist” philosophy considers soldiers and most other people to be 'moochers."

That is total bullshit. I have lost friends and family in the current conflict. But it is total bullshit to say that the large number of funerals are due to the US allowing so many soldiers to die. The vast majority of funerals are for veterans of WWII and Korea that are dying off rapidly. Active duty deaths are given a full military funeral. The dedicated funeral details usually provided by state National Guard units are stretched thin. Veterans groups take up the slack.
