"No Names, No Packdrill" - at least that's what it sounds like...

The Head of Department at a previous job used to use this expression all the time in a “nudge, nudge”, “we all know who I’m talking about” kind of way, but for a long time I never really knew what he was on about, and then when I did know, I never knew WTF the expression meant (or used to mean).

Any one know??

Gp

According to The Phrase Finder it means “Say nothing and avoid repercussions”. And the explanation “Packdrill - the carrying of a heavy pack - was a punishment given to soldiers in the British Army”.

Excellent - thanks
