WARNING, THE FOLLOWING LINK IS GROSS GROSS GROSS!
Way to ruin my 4th of July Lynn!
Not for for human eyes Lynn! Not fit for human eyes!
He’s not any better without the pornstache. Although, I appreciate the way you draw him now. Now he looks like he’s in his 20’s, like he’s supposed to be. A couple months ago, with that stupid pornstache and glasses he looked like he was in his 40’s! It’s like putting pearls on swine, Lynn. PEARLS ON SWINE!
Dammit, I was pulling for Julia. I am so disappointed in you Lynn. So disappointed.
Here’s an idea. How about you craft thread titles and OPs that make sense, instead of forcing me to click on a link to understand what the fuck you’re obsessing over, so i don’t have to deal with some crappy soap opera comic strip.
Even though Lynn is a Canadian, I have to wonder if she didn’t time this specifically to run on July 4 to make some idiotic point about the “fireworks” between the two characters.
Guano, it would take forever to explain. You either know what s/he’s talking about, and care, or you don’t, and you click away.
As someone who does know and is equally sickened, I have to say that it’s kind of a relief. No more wistful gazing; no more contrived obstacles. It’s rather like the Sun’s (Daily Mail’s?) take on the union of Charles and Camilla: “Boring Old Gits To Wed.” All this drama when he could have spoken up years ago.
And I guess Anthony’s “date” will be cabbing it home. But who cares about her, right? She’s not a goddess like Liz.
Snoopy: Yeah, what better way to observe Independence Day than by submitting to a glob of sludge.
It almost seems like Lynn Johnson has decided that she’s going to end the series after all, but instead of wanting to leave on at least somewhat high ground, she’s trying her utmost to make every single reader of FBOFW throw up their hands in disgust. She’s just sitting at her desk laughing manically. “HAHA! First the Teen Movie Moment, now for the Most Bland And Inconceivably Attractive Love Interest! They’ll NEVER read this strip again! Never!! Ahahahahahaa!” And then she starts drooling and throwing things while her eyes spin around in her head.
am I the only person in the universe who still likes this strip?
eta: in the last panel, those are just stars in the background, not fireworks. Remember, she’s Canadian, if she was going to have fireworks in the background, it would have been in Sunday’s strip
Not good enough. How can I know if I care or not if no information is given? Perhaps they’re talking about something very topically important, despite the vagueness. Knowing that it is some stupid comic strip (that seems to get an unreasonable amount of attention on the SDMB by the way) is not difficult to provide.
::: Moderator hat on :::: Sorry, Rilchiam, but I disagree with you and I agree with GuanoLad. There’s lots of Anthonys out there. I’ve edited the title to add something that indicates what the heck this thread is about.
Clockwork Jackal, please remember our Guidelines and Etiquette on the SDMB and especially Post #3 in that thread (“Use descriptive titles when you start a thread.”) It’s etiquette rather than a rule, so this isn’t an Official Warning or anything, just friendly advice.
Finally, GuanoLad, you could have been a trifle more polite in voicing your complaint? And, of course, a complaint directed at the OP doesn’t help, there’s no way for a member to edit a thread title. Proper course of complaint is to hit the REPORT button on any post (the ! in the little red triangle in upper right corner) and let a Moderator fix it. That’s how I got here, and it wasn’t you reporting it. (I know you know this, I’m telling you so that others will learn.)
While I am barely aware of the existance of this comic, and that mostly from threads on this board, I must say that I’m truly impressed at the loyalty of its fans, who apparently care for its minutae to such a degree, even while criticizing every aspect of it.
Not only is FBOFW resolving their star-crossed lovers story line, but it seems Luann is also doing the same thing this week, with Brad and Toni (no not Luann and Aaron Hill thank the Lord).
Heh. We’re the merest tyros at this. If you want real attention to the minutiae of hated comics, you have to check out The Comics Curmudgeon. There is some small amount of overlap between here and there, but I don’t think even a small majority of Dopers spend much time over there.
Because I’m not a 15-year-old shut-in, I don’t obsess over events in a comic strip. But for some reason I do read this one every day, and have to wonder – will that Elizabeth chick just be in love with whatever male is paying her the most attention at the time?
God forbid that a young woman could have a fulfilling career, a string of fun, short-term relationships, and a life outside of her hometown. No, after a brief fling with independent life, she must return to the parental nest with her tail tucked between her legs, marry her high school sweetheart, and settle down at the ripe old age of 26. Bleagh!
