No relief...

So, ha, you packa bastards, you thought you’d be rid of me this week. But our lovely cruise ship sails without us this afternoon and I get to stay home and express my pleasure instead.

Fuck.

Blech!!! So sorry to hear it! Are you OK? Not a health reason I hope?

Relatively minor medical issue for Mrs. B. (pinched nerve in neck), but it leaves her unable to travel. She’ll be fine in a week or two, but nothing they’ve done for the last week has been enough to get her pain-free and able to be away from medical care.

First real vacation in four years, to boot. No chance of any equivalent until maybe spring.

Damn boat sailed 18 minutes ago.

That truly sucks, Barbarian. However, just imagine how incredibly happy you’re going to feel if that cruise ship breaks down (as cruise ships seem to be doing of late) in some fashion, turning it into a floating Hell.

I hope Mrs. B gets to feeling better … my better half has developed osteoarthritis in her knees and is in constant pain, so I know what a drag that can be.

I hope that when you reschedule the vacation, it will all come to fruition.

That’s a shame :frowning: I hope your wife is better soon.
Do you get your money back since it’s a medical issue that stopped you from going? Or are you SOL on that?

We never book a prepaid vacation without third-party insurance. Although the cancellation penalty was 100%, we’re covered for all but a few incidentals.

The cruise line’s own insurance was three times as expensive and paid off more in credit towards a future cruise of equal value - which might be great for some, but that’s not really “insurance” and is meaningless if the reason you cancel is permanent.

Finding coverage using InsureMyTrip.com is much cheaper and includes a huge range of other coverage - trip delay, luggage, medical, emergency transport, even for things like extended pet boarding. Best $200 I’ve spent in a while. It does mean a week or so of hassle like getting doctor’s affidavits etc. but that’s the other part of the price.

Still a major bummer to be sitting here and not on a deck somewhere off, oh, about the Carolinas right now. Needed a break badly… not going to get one until at least May.

Fuuuuuuck.
