Ya know it seems like every forum I sign up in has all these rules. This site needs an upgrade! There are alot better sites out there!

Actually, the site has changed quite a bit over two years.

The board is like your house, you invite people in. You ask them to follow the house rules. Would one want guests who bring in hard core porno all the time? Course not.
I’m already being treated bad just because of my opinion.
I have been threatened with having my posting priveleges revoked because of my suggestiongs. Other boards I post to don’t edit my posts because they don’t worry about a little competition, unlike this board. What’s the deal? Here are the links again for you guys that didn’t get them before due to them being taken off. Just want to say it’s been nice! I probably won’t be back since this will probably get me kicked off this board!

1flea, your links were edited not because the SDMB can’t take competition, but because they contained inappropriate material (pornography, I infer* from ITR’s comment). There have been plenty of other message boards linked to here that are left alone.

Anyway, I find the critiques of newbies about the draconian rules on the SDMB highly suspect (especially when said newbie sole reason for posting is to spam the board with advertisements for other sites). I have see very few, if any. public message boards that contains actual discussion (as opposed to mainly spam and flaming and the like) with “no rules” and the SDMB has less stringent rules than most I’ve seen.
(Anyway, I find the critiques of newbies about the draconian rules on the SDMB highly suspect)
