Apparently, its a complement - a sign you’ll fit in just fine. Look at all these people with thousands of posts who didn’t get welcomed.
(I still think its option C. I suspect most people pay little attention to post counts unless something makes them look. Though I said that at the miniPorkDope and lno (thats LNO) knew my post count within five - and everyone else’s at the table too.)
If I was still running my Welcome Wagon threads you could have gotten your welcome and and insult! And with the wealth of people saying they were never welcomed, I’m half tempted to start it up again. If only I had the time…

I was welcomed, curiously enough, in the Pit. Of course, that’s probably because my roommate posted a rant under my name by accident, so everyone checked to see how many posts I had. The fact that I was welcomed in the midst of the accusations of sock-puppetry surprised me.

Welcome, mrsface. There’s been a thread about “asshats” in the past few days in GQ. It has to do with using one’s anus as headgear, eg, head up one’s arse. Not originally from here, from Fark IIRC.

There’s only a certain number of posters who, if they see a small post count and a recent registration, will give a quick welcome. And they only sometimes notice those. I don’t post a welcome if I notice since they may have lurked for quite sometime. Plus I’m just not the welcomy, huggy and handing out cookies kind of guy. I imagine most new dopers don’t get welcomed. I was another one that didn’t get welcomed.
Of course what you really want is to be welcomed by Cecil. If you ever get that you’ll make a lot of long time dopers quite jealous. It’s tough too. I once promised to buy one of each piece of Cecil’s merchandice and books if he welcomed me personally and he never took me up on the offer. Which is still good I must add.
And BTW, welcome to the SD :).
