The only reason anyone ever gave a shit about Sarah Palin in politics in the first place was because she was sexually attractive. Therefore, any thread about Sarah Palin is ipso facto a thread about sex. Ergo, commenting that you’d like to fuck Sarah Palin in a thread about Sarah Palin is definitely being “on topic.”
The hubbub arose a while back, with the accusation of overt sexism on the boards. It was discussed a great deal, both by the moderators behind the scenes and by the posters in general. The moderators decided that it was difficult (if not impossible) to come up with standards that differentiated simply joking around with being derogatory towards women, and the outcome was (basically) if a thread was already about sex-related topics, then joking around was probably acceptable, while if a thread was about some other topic, then randomly adding a comment about fucking a woman was being sexist and obnoxious.
Even that, obviously, isn’t a perfect rule, but it’s a reasonable guideline.
Plus, if Sarah Palin had become VP, we’d all have been fucked.
