No thanks, I'll take my chances with the psychopath.

Hope springs eternal. Well played, by the way.

Like I said, you’re ignoring the realities of the situation. But it’s good to see that you’re acknowledging that you couldn’t make the shot with smoke and a panicked crowd, only a carefully aimed shot from 10 yards with no visual or physical distractions.

…and while you are stationary and waiting for that ideal shooting situation, the gunman can spray bullets at you because he doesn’t give a shit if he hits other people.

When all else fails, condescention. Nice. Ya big cuntwaffle, the crux of this argument has nothing to do with guns or the extent to which they are understood by any of the good people of this thread. I’ve been around guns since I was 5–I’ve got a pretty handy understanding of ballistics, ammunition, the weapons that use it and the actions available. Also, I’m no chump when it comes to picking the right tool for a particular job. Lastly, I don’t think that particular skillset requires a great amount of intelligence so it should be readily grasped by most gun owners/users. Nevertheless:

I’m at a bit of a loss to recall a single event where a common citizen saved the day by unexpectedly producing any sort of sidearm. I’m sure it happens from time to time when the cardinal rule of concealed carry is forgotten and the weapon is merely brandished as a deterrent, and every now and then we hear about a legitemate self-defense scenario when some potential victim was not actively avoiding danger. Far more common are the tales of gun owners killing each other with unloaded guns.

But, where are the accounts of “local boy foils bank robbery thanks to concealed carry?” When do we get to see “intelligent, competent people who own guns (acting) in a responsible manner in the worst of situations”? Yeah, there’s the awesome story of grandma being used as a human shield and retired Marine grandpa putting a round over his wife’s shoulder into the bad guy’s eyeball from across the living room, but where are the heros on the streets when “the worst situations” happen?

Let’s be fair, dngb8 or whatever the hell his name is provided this link which does provide sources of 5 times when an armed civilian was able to stop a violent crime.

However, I notice that the years of those 5 times are in 1997, 2007, 2007, 2011, and 2012. So we have 5 reported incidents in 15 years where an armed civilian successfully stopped violent crime. Maybe there’s more, but that sampling really ain’t much, and it says something that the article had to go back to 1997 to round it out to 5 incidents.

Thanks, already had it! I’ve really been quite amused at the irascible naivete of the misinformed, defenseless future victims here. I guess it has to hit closer to home before you “get it:”

Wankers on a self-proclaimed ignorance-fighting site? Meh. It’s to be expected.

Would that you were amusing, but you’re the millionth deskbound Rambo we’ve had here. If you shut up and paid attention you’d realize that most of the people telling you you’re stupid are pro-gun.

Not me, of course.

I get it-people are panicking and overreacting to a very rare situation.
Thank you for pointing that out, but that type of panicked response usually happens after a tragedy like this occurs.

What did they do, beat each other over the head with them?

I’m going to read this as “jest.” Let me know if I’m worng about that, cupcake.

No. They are wrong about them being unloaded.

ProTip: Trying to be funny often does not work, when the alternative explanation (your comment is dumb as a fucking post) seems to fit better.

So I get it. When you run out of whining and whistling, then you can resort to other unrelated events, or make something up.

Czarcasm, I’ve come to the conclusion that you, more than anyone on this board, are too stupid to be trusted with an idea, let alone a gun.

At least he can’t shoot anyone with an idea.

If it wouldn’t cause a rumpus for being too similar to Monkey with a Gun, I’d completely change my screen name to Monkey with an Idea.

And if you ever come up with a valid idea we’ll test your little theory.
Dude, the “shot with an unloaded weapon” meme has got to be the most common one among those who actually know anything about guns.

I chuckled.

I know someone who got pregnant that way.

I thought they only puffed rice that way!

This guy? He can’t home one into the chamber.
