octopus is complaining that Trinopus’ rejoinder exploited the amphiboly inherent in octopus’ clumsy sentence construction, rather than addressing its inherent irrelevancy.
Doc ock’s original comment was about needing a safe space to retire to when “the wrong ethnicity ate the wrong food.”
There was an uproar recently about the “chopped cheese” sandwich – ground beef hashed together with onions and American cheese, fried, and served on a hero roll with ketchup, mustard, etc. It had been popular in Harlem and other predominantly black sections of NYC, and then rich white people “discovered” it and started making it downtown with fancy cheese, artisinal bread, etc. Culture warhawks got nasty about it.
May have also been a reference to age old culinary stereotypes and how they upset some folks. “Don’t eat that fried chicken! A white person might see you!” “What the fuck? EVERYBODY likes fried chicken!” “STILL!”
Back when I worked at a food co-op we all loved watermelon season, because of course we needed to sample each delivery for “quality standards.” There was one black guy who never joined in because he was afraid someone would take a picture of him and post it all over the Internet.
Kinda like when My People got hot on gardening, half the hippies I know were trying to give away zucchini to the other half. Didn’t know i hated zucchini till I ate a ton of it.
“Steele”? The guys name is “Steele”? What happened to Englishmen named Witherbottom and Throckmorton? If you proposed this as a plot outline for Tom Clancy, he’d have laughed it out of the room! Ian Fleming, maybe.
I just did a quick check and you have now used this joke no less than seventeen times. Yes I really did count. And that’s just the instances I could find; with the state of the SDMB search engine who knows the real number.
Maybe we should agree on a system of numbers, like the guys in the jail cell in that joke. You could just say “53!” and I could laugh.
The title of the thread is about Trump and golden showers. You never said anything about hookers or being married in your post, so why do you think it is a stretch that this alleged kink was the ‘one more thing’ you were throwing on the heap. So, to clarify, what is the ‘one more’ thing you were objecting to?
